I'm not a lover of Flavio, but you have to look at history at F1. He didn't have drivers becoming world champions overnight and normally people like him succeed against the negativity.

I personally think we have been very unlucky

Dowie got us to 4th and left/sacked as flavio was new in his position and felt he could do it all.

Sousa had us 7th and then tactially so negative saw us not win a game for 2 months, though still adored by some, we clearly missed the chance of a play off spot.

Magilton had us 4th and we then lost influential players Rowlands and Mahon, then he lost the dressing room after poor results.

We are now 10th, conceivably we can progress, but every fan you speak to are down in the dumps, but still a way to go this season.

We've had some players who have not done well, but Ageymang did have a purple patch under De Canio and the club cannot be faulted that a confident Vine, broke his leg and never been the same since. Players like Reid and Watson should have worked but didn't, not sure you can blame the board for that??
If Paladini's analysis is anything like your's Pete it is little wonder that the club are p*ssing resources down the drain and progress has come to a grinding halt.

Would not argue against a policy of not wasting money, although I don't think anyone can realistically suggest that a good deal of money, as well as goodwill, was wasted through Flav's policies and interference.

However, there's never been a club or manager or Sporting Director in the history of football who hasn't spent money on duffers; Fergie's background at ManU is littered with them, right up to the present day with Berbatov. Bottom line is there are no certainties in football, and if you're frightened of getting burned or getting criticised for poor signings, you're in the wrong business.

Equally, any successful businessman after 2+ years of running a business in any industry should have a nose for where the problems remain and when an opportunity to progress the business arises. Dowie didn't work out, Sousa didn't work out, and the idea of bringing an unproven manager like Magilton was IMO an example of lessons not having been learned quickly enough. Whether the penny has finally dropped, we'll no doubt know very quickly at the end of this season. The idea that you might get criticsed for wasting money on players, and not for running the business at a loss of a min £4m per season also seems a little naive.

What is undoubted is that until the problems with squad and managerial policy are addressed, it would take a miracle for us to get promoted, and irrespective of whether the board or senior employees are sensitive about criticism or not, ask just about every Rangers fan everywhere will tell you precisely and correctly what those problems are:

      1. Lack of quality manager
      2. Lack of target man options up front
      3. Lack of quality and pace at both full back positions

And guess what? If all three were addressed, it still wouldn't guarantee promotion. But it would give us the best chance of achieving it in a division full of average and mediocre teams.

At the end of the day, Flav & co own the club, and if we get to the Prem and can stay there, there will be money to be made by the owners. It's really therefore up to them to get the club there, sooner rather than later, and that does mean putting their hands in their pockets to achieve it.

        Brilliant post.

Guess what those are the 3 things I would highlight on the footballing side of things.

Off the pitch the list is slightly longer.

Would that make us or Paladini self centred then or is the fans who are behaving in this way, its our club not he's?

              everyone

everyone knows ive been very up tempo, about gianni thats because if i was a millionair i wouldnt put one penny onto qpr.
anybody that would give a thousand pound to qpr must be mad as far as i am concerned but legands such as bill power and gianni have put hundreds of thousand of pounds
how much would all the crottics of gianni put into the club,i think i can answer that question.they would not put a penny in,
gianni love him or hate him mortgaged his house to put 600 000 pounds into qpr, thats why im for gianni, the other reason is because my best friend brian rowe who is mr qpr, told me trust gianni with your life.
So if any of you people want to attack me violently, then bring it on, i die for qpr,and gianni paladini

                All very nice.

But just the sort of stuff that totally sidetracks the whole point of the debate about his role... it's personal.
We're told not to focus on the past by Pete, look forward, be positive and constructive.
                But that's a two-way street isn't it?? Seems not.

So whether GP mortgaged his house, sold his car, or flogged his Pokeman Card collection in the past is not really the issue when it comes to the question of GP's current DoF role being a good one for QPR.

NO MATTER WHO IS DOING IT.

It is not about him, as a person.

In his first interview on QPR world, FB said that in football, the easiest way to loose all your money is to give it to a manager to spend and how he will not be doing that, so I can see why FB keeps GP. I bet he sold him a story of how he knows the pitfalls from both sides ie: club v players & agents and because of that, he could simplify the process if he controlled it. It is either that or Paladinin has something really bad on them all.

                    Flav in F1.

Took/stole (depending on whose story you believe) Schumacher from Jordan and paid handsomely for the privelege. Schumacher finished 2nd in his first season with Benetton and World Champ the following year.

Alonso was a very similar path.

FB seems OK in shelling out big bucks on quality drivers for fast results to please his employers when, at the end of the day, it's not his cash, but not in football where he is his own boss.

How much has GP cost us/FB so far?? Padula for starters and then we'll talk about managerial compensation fees and player/agents fees.......oh, and an interest free loan. And a nice consultancy touch for Olga and Moorbound....

I'm sure the people, like myself, who put money into the collection buckets will be chuffed to bits to read that.

                            GP is upset about MBs?
Can you imagine the CEO of Shell saying the same thing? Surely this is something he should just rise above (unless it's someone accusing him of doing something illegal etc.) - he doesn't need to be so sensitive (assuming this is true, of course).

No problem with Paladini personally just don't agree with the DoF role at any football club especially when the one we have isn't succeeding in his post.
