the way we did it in the past was by getting experienced players who had played for your man utd's and spurs and arsenal and liverpool..Yes we got a couple of seasons out of them and it worked..Peter reid ,butch wilkins ,kenny sansom sammy lee and mark falco etc etc (Ha9 you will not remember them).Why do we not go after the players like scholes who would bring so much to the place..ok big money wages but no fee so still good value...
