Assessment on Paladini from Clive Whittingham /merged thread/

To be fair, I've never met him. I did once stand quite close by the dugouts when my Son was Mascot.
I suspect I'd quite like him. Anyone who talks passionately about football gets my attention. And if it's central to QPR and I get fed tit bits of gossip / speculation, I'm gonna love that.
It's one of the reasons I check messageboards. That rumour thread gets me through a dull day at work. I even enjoy passing on such gossip to other R's friends who don't / can't monitor messageboards.
Invariably, I form an opinion, do I want that player ? Is he any good ? Should we really sell him ? etc. We discuss the pro's and con's. We laugh and take most of it with a large pinch of salt. Until of course it becomes fact, Officially or someone else gets a QPR Text or I see it on Ceefax P390 (am I the only one who still checks Teletext ?)
Anyway, I doubt too many will get to the tail end of the 7th page of this thread, so most of the above will be lost / wasted. But I enjoyed doing it.
It changed my opinion of how many good / bad signings GP's made.
There do appear to be some learnings - Don't offer 4 year contracts, Steer clear of the Mediteranean, Reconsider the whole structure & set up off the field. Will FB look at that, now he appears to have more time to spend away from F1 - Another debate and another thread for another night.....
I should re-balance again by saying I agree with alot of what Clive wrote, seems pretty level headed and sensible, but god forbid we all think the same all the time.
By the way has there ever been a successful Director of Football in England ? One that we can all agree about.

I'm not sure I like the sound of the 'rim brigade' !
qprsouth - I think we have moved on. It's only 2 or 3 years ago we could have been watching -
Cole, Curtis, Barker, Walton, Malcolm, Cullip, Bailey, Bolder, Nardiello, Nygaard & Moore
We're holding our own, mid table (or slightly above) in the Championship, a League where anyone can beat anyone. And most do. Admittedly Newcastle & West Brom are clearly above the rest.
It's fair to say we need stability off the pitch and chopping and changing Manager's so often is not helping.
Neither is the (what seems) constant fighting between message boarders. It's an interesting point someone else mentioned earlier. Lets say Hard Core 11k fans go to home games, sometimes 13k if we're doing well. Probably less than a 1000 visit message boards regularly, and many that do, are not in the country, let alone London / W12 !
Pro/Anti GP ? Pro/Anti FB ?
I think I'd probably like GP more than I would FB, if I ever did meet them.

Chris Barker was from Colchester and Stefan Bailey came though the ranks (or originally from Luton) I thought. Neither could be considered Premiership !
Taraabt & Simpson, Watson, Reid, Man Utd & Chelsea Goalies are all Premiership not CC (admittedly Hull's 4th choice doesn't inspire, but I drew a line before him).
I'll take Saturday's team against Plymouth.
You take my offering from 2006/7 above.
On paper like. My Team would win 9 times out of 10.

Oh, I guess you meant Simon Barker and Dennis Bailey. That's going back along way.
Yeah, your right, we haven't beaten ManUre 4-1 at Old Trafford for a long time, so things have taken a down turn. Probably around the time we left the Premiership.....
Vauxhall Motors anyone ? Glory Days !

Yes and I was there too, even changed ends at half time, stood with home fans in a vain attempt to get a beer.
But thanks for trying to belittle me.
Guess you must have got embarrassed you forgot Chris & Stefan above.
Anyway I say we have moved on since then, just maybe not as much as we'd have hoped.
Perhaps our expextations are too high.
Shame about your self imposed silence, didn't take long to crack.
You love it really !.....Seriously I hope your day gets better, south.

I remember the roulette wheel well and also the mini bus midweek trips to Grimsby etc and the nightmare one to Yeovil when we lost 3-0 in the LDV and I think they were Non League then as well!!
As you say they were the best days for travelling to QPR games without a doubt.
