generally i like the idea of a sporting director in the sense of having continuity between managers, and feel quite sad for paladini sometimes, but he doesn't half dig himself into some indefensible p.r holes. i don't really even have that much of a problem with his transfer record actually - the wages (hall), medical research (helguson) and length of contracts (agyemang) being given out is more the issue that's hard to forgive.
I think you will find that most without any agenda think like you. I didn't want Sousa to go, not for the football he was playing but for the fact that we need to give a manager a bit of time at some point.

End of the day, when you are 10th in the championship, when it offered so much at the start, its right to question everything.

I have a different opinion, because irrevelant of the teams we played we had a very good period and stability at the club from the Chelsea, Newcastle and Cardiff games etc etc.

Ultimately, Magilton lost the dressing room and recent results have made it difficult to throughly support the club, leading to questions. (Anyone in their right mind cannot blame GP for that)

Easy to point the finger at one person, but the problems are bigger than that. I manintain that Flavio gives the okay on players deals etc and upto the Leicester home game, no-one can deny it was working, its now gone pear shaped, but we are 4 points off and with a little positivity, we might improve, but many have givn up for the season and simply finding scapegoats. Thats my opinion and the record hasn't changed for many even 4-5 years down the line, its just you get a bigger audience when things are not going so well and those play on the negatvity surrounding the club.

Thats my opinion, throw it in the bin or keep it thats my opinion

Yes let's keep this to discussion about GP and his role. That is what this thread was about, let's not hijack it to avoid the subject.

Absolutely spot-on. Nail on sodding head.
We weren't losing. We knew we could be building - but we needed some stability.
But then Pete's campaign reached crescendo.

Which is all a bit rich considering him and Conners come on and tell us all to be patient and stop being spoilt brats.

            Unbelievable.

            Mouthpiece? Its a sodding foghorn.

But who is putting these deals together ?

Unbelievable the way QBP has started dissecting CW's postings in an attempt to gain the higher ground and totally diverting the discussion away from the original debate.

Clive has clearly touched a nerve IMO.

Big difference I said Sousa was rubbish from the outset, I haven't come on here saying he was rubbish and then a few months down the line to get "onside" say what a good manager he was.

Thats the difference, I've always not liked Sousa, not suddenly been converted because a few fans want me to be.
I'm pretty sure you were telling me in a thread on here last week that no one supported Sousa more until the Norwich game. Now you're saying you thought he was rubbish from the outset?

Sounds like a bit of a rapid "conversion" of facts to me.

I still cannot get over the fact that the Sporting Director allegedly refers to a then manager of OUR club as a c*nt! Bang out of line and indefensible.

You know what - I think FB has even less of a clue than GP has.
Hence all around get the chop while the SD carries-on unhindered.

Note that most managers have been sacked for non-footballing reasons.
PS - over the Blackstock loan deal
ID - direct arguement with FB?
JM - untenable position fair enough, but not for results.

A lot of sloping shoulders methinks from certain parties.

After what game, in what season did you first have concerns abut the players GP was providing the manger with ?

you use the term "onside". I remember thinking this when you suggested last week that gp was the man to unearth faurlin

The only real time he did that was under De Canio..First January period

As in the case of Faurlin he will ask the manager to take a look at him.

Dowie unfortuntaely was undermined by Parejo, DE Carmine etc, but it is well documented they are because of Flavio's contacts at respective clubs real Madrid and Fiorentina

Sousa, Magilton and Hart picked/pick their own teams .

You only have to look at Lopez who was clearly a Sousa player and Borrowdale being shipped out to Brighton, to know he made all the player decisions

We have sang managers names at games but the Sousa one was the hardest to get going, why was this and the only time we got this going was away at Cardiff... we Rangers fans didn't stop for a good 20 to 30 minutes that game and at home it didn't work so why was this and why didn't the fans want to sing for Sousa?

Even Gigi, Dowie & Magilton had more fans singing he's name.
