Oh woe is you Pete, no one understands you!!!!!!
Trouble is you defend the clubs shambolic dealings almost blindly so much, you cannot blame people for thinking you are spinning "an insiders" line.
You trot out figures(which are wrong) so if we are pennypinching do we need a DOF???
just get a decent manager and let him manage-Simples really
From the Hills of Kerry
To the streets of Free Derry
Surely any "Project" needs a long term focus. In the case of a football club - normally the manager. Not happened.
For the players you either spend millions on a gamble or focus on a Youth set-up to do it.
Not happened.
Or you make the club a going concern - attract the support, lower prices, get em hooked and raise them on success.
Not happened.
Or to make the club a going concern, you concentrate on the big spenders - Exec boxes. or VIP areas etc. A bit like Airlines making most money from First and business class.
This has happened but patently NOT worked.
Or finally, you spend cheap (and before certain players names and salaries are mentioned - we HAVE done it on the cheap so far in relative terms, if you want promotion)
We have done this - and it aint working.
So - before aspertions are cast about QPR fans being spoilt etc. let us know the strategy. How the Project is to be started, funded, maintained and measured year by year. Bring the supporters on-board and we will ride-out the poo times.
Because on the evidence so far, the project is hit and hope.
I dont think anyone has claimed that we SHOULD be doing a FULHAM or WIGAN, we are only going by the current owner's words that effectively claimed that we would be.
How? We left that to him.
We are still waiting.
This was about expenditure relative to revenue, nothing else.
Others brought the subject into play. they often do that, when facts are in front of them and cannot argue them, they go off in tandem
The point being is that Fulham had far less revenue than us at first but what they did was market themselves properly and not rip there fans off they appointed 2 decent managers , the only poor one was Bracewell
We have done the complete opposite and have gone backwards we are in a no better position than the summer of the massive price rises becasue we have chopped and changed our manager every 6 months
The first thing the board can do in the summer is drop the prices by 25-30% go on a massive PR effort to get the fans back on board the second thing they can do is employ a manger , give him a budget and stick with him for two years and see where it gets us
