If the rumours are true then it looks like we are prepared to spend money (both fees and wages) on Premiership players such as Ashdown, Quashie, Faye and Webber. But are central midfielders actually what we need or should we be targetting some of these players instead:
"right-back Kerrea Gilbert will be allowed to depart"
"Kevin Phillips might want to look elsewhere due to a relative lack of opportunities."
"Jason Roberts could also be leaving Ewood Park"
"Danny Shi*tu and Nicky Hunt were all told they could leave"
"Championship clubs are queuing up to sign Diomansy Kamara"
"striker Caleb Folan, midfielder Peter Halmosi and striker Daniel Cousin are the favourites to go"
"Striker Federico Macheda could also head out on loan"
"Dave Kitson, but only for the right price. Full-back Andy Griffin is in a similar position."
"Greg Halford cannot be happy not even making the bench in recent games"
Gilbert, Hunt, Griffin or Halford would all be better options than Ramage or Leigertwood. Shi*tu would mean that Hall gets nowhere near the first team. And the strikers are all better options than the likes of Agyemang and Pellicori.
Lots of talent leaving the Premiership and for some reason we are again after the dregs of it. We don't need quantity and for the same price we are getting Quashie et al we could get Halford and Kitson who would bring a lot more to the first team.
