it was for the money or, it was your boyhood dream to wear the once proud Hoops? I ask this as a serious question as I really can't see many positive reasons to join us at present or for the foreseeable future.
Having never been in this position (although am still waiting for my professional football career to start!!) there must be a few staple questions that you'd want answering when considering a move to LR. A few below and in no particular order:
The chance to advance my career and International recognition?
The chance to be successful and win some silverware?
The chance to work with a successful manager and coaching staff?
The chance to become part of a tight-knit unit of players who are united and committed to the cause?
The chance to play in front of fair minded and passionate fans who encourage their team and create the sort of atmosphere that would make your teeth itch or, gives you a twitching in the loins?
You get the picture am sure........
Anyway, I think it's reasonably fair to say that at the moment none of the above applies so what possible reason(s) apart from all the wrong ones would any half decent player want to join us? If and a huge IF, I ever were in a position to play pro football I wouldn't touch a club in our position with the proverbial barge pole would you?
No disrespect to Paul Hart but, if he is part of the smoozing of players I can't see him blinding anyone with his charm, wit and dynamic personality can you? He has a haunted hung dog look about him. His lagubrious face reminds me of Geoffrey Palmer......
What a shambles we've become and I will be satisfied with just staying up at the moment as this has got the look of a long depressing couple of months coming up. No doubt we'll be out of the cup on Sun and sods law the Pilgrims are starting to find some form.......
If things ever calm down and we do eventually find some stability and eventual success then someone should write a book about the past couple of years as you couldn't effing well make it up!!
Still, all's not ill with the world as I've just seen the highlights of England against SA and we bowled like demons and wish we had a few players (or even one!!) who had Swann's level of enthusiasm and commitment....
Apologies this has dragged on a bit and well done for making it this far.......
