Reading the board anyone wd think the world was about to end or Kiera Knightley was about to stop getting her kit off. I'm as depressed as anybody with what is happening - far more by the sense of complete chaos behind the scenes as anything on the pitch -but just think everyone is out-doing each other with doom and gloom. I'm not blaming anyone for being fed up, particularly those who went all the way to Ipswich to witness Ben Watson not even trying.
But for your own gd, chill out. With the exception of a brief flurry when we all allowed ourselves to believe, virtually all of us have known from the start of the season that we weren't equipped to do much this term. While even the most seasoned Rs fan cd not have predicted Butt-Buz Gate, I don't think many wd be have been overly surprised at the start of the season to know where we wd be in the league by Christmas, given the choice of manager, our failure to buy a proper striker, etc.
Think we need to just write this season off in terms of promotion. Paul Hart might not have a brilliant record regarding results, but he does have a damn good record at assembling a squad. Let us see what he is allowed to do in Jan. By then Flav might have gone. No one knows what boardroom restructuring will then take place. Whatever happens it is likely to break the boardroom paralysis which we've seen this season.
Moving forward I then think the board need to hold a session with the fans to try to re-build a relationship, explaining what they are aiming for and how they plan to get it. They need to treat us like adults. Equally, we have to be realistic and accept that a relatively small club like us is not going to have millions thrown at it. Above all we need calm and stability, in the boardroom but also on the terraces. Meanwhile, my advice is stop getting so churned up about football. Play with your kids, kick the cat, read the political news rather than the sport, go out on the raz with Facto... its bound to make you more cheerful than all this Meldrew-esque wallowing.
