I think we'd have no problem getting decent crowds if we were in the top three or four, regardless of prices. The Leicester game, despite being live on TV on a Friday evening, is a good example. Problem is we've got a bunch of average Championship players, many of whom think they're better than they are, playing average Championship football. The standard of the league is very poor this year, and although that means it's an exciting league in terms of competition, it also means that you can be four points off the play-offs despite winning only a third of your matches.

Regardless of the fact that we're in the middle of a recession, do you honestly think the ticket pricing policy is a fair one?

I think the Gold/Silver/Bronze idea is NOT a good one and automatically introduced some kind of class system. The fact you can still watch QPR for £20 is good value though

Assuming you dont, do you think we'd be getting 13,000 crowds if they hadn't over-inflated the prices?

We are getting 13,000 crowds because the club is in mid-table, much higher it would be nearer 16,000 irrevelant of price. End of the day, supporters are paying for entertainment

Would you agree we could be getting at least 16/17,000 and selling out the top games if they restructered it and improved their PR which in turn could return at least some of the feel-good-factor and possibly even increase their revenue?
(The improved atmosphere may even have a beneficial effect on the team).

Honestly believe its all relevant to the position in the league and the feel good factor. the latter is non-existent. Other teams in the championship have proved time and time again, if they look like getting promoted than crowds flock to see them

Wigan had crowds of 2,000 and a stadium that had remained unchanged from its Northern Premier League days when Whelan cut them a rug

Blackburn had crowds of less than 6,000 when Walker came in.

I really, really don't understand your point Pete.

Are you trying to defend a systemic lack of investment required to make the leap into the playoffs, an acknowledgement that the owners aren't as serious as attaining top flight status as the guys I've noted above or that we are just a rich mans toy with the club being used purely as a vehicle to massage ego's, or that the money just isn't there and the owners want out?

The club is a complete basket case and there's only the two guys responsible for it. The millions shelled out on previous management teams, the unnecessary embellishment of the corporate areas that don't sell, the interest free personal loans, the out of court settlements being paid to players for broken contracts. This is all due to utter incompetence and a lack of understanding. It is ridiculous.

As per usual Nodge is spot on and raises some good points that surely warrant an answer from the question asker.

Be interested to see what Pete or GP have to say about that.

How many years did it take those teams to get into the permiership. Think you'll find most of them if not all done it in 4 years and not 2?? With Wigan and Fulham they started a league lower, but it certainly was not done in 2 years.

            or have both.
And what did Foolham have when Al Fayed took over? Hardly a pot to pee in, smaller crowds than Brentford, but he splashed the cash right from the off.
Speculate to accumulate is the way to go, the way we should have gone from the start.
Since Flavio took over we've only ever had one single month where we really did start to look like promotion contenders, one month. The rest of the time it's looked like we'd do well to beat an egg.

Just remind me how Long Al fayed took to get Fulham up to the premiership?

It took him two/half years to get them 10th in Division 1 in 99-2000, the following year they were champions.

Think it took him 3 and half years to get to the prmiership, bearing in mind he bought them 1997

Just for the record it took Dave Whelan at Wigan 10 years, so whats the point?

Guessing those fans were more patient??

Point is whelan said a ten yr plan and got them there and they had to climb through the leagues..Fulham were a league below us and did it playing good football and sticking by their manager's and spending on good solid players....They never over inflated tickets and never lost fans doing it hence why fulham got bigger crowds while ours fall.SPIN THAT ONE SHANE WARNE .....

Sorry Pete, I think you missed the point of Nodges post. He was responding to your original message by pointing out that several owners have in fact in the past put their hands in their pockets while having considerably lower gates than we do at the moment.

Did he say anything about how long it took them to get promoted? or indeed did the original post mention that?

As for crowds being related to league position, I thought that was last years excuse and we would be selling out games once we started playing beautiful football..... Remind me again what the crowds are at Ipswich and how well they are doing????
A message to the other Premier League clubs when they visit Loftus Road.....

Fact is he did change managers, by memory

                          Micky Adams
                          Ray Lewington
                          ray Wilkins
                          Kevin Keegan
                          Paul Bracewell
                          Tigana

                          (6) in 3 years,

I keep hearing that argument being used??

At first It was on Peschisilido who was bought for over a million.
Only in the 4th year of fayed ownership, did Tigana get the job and then he bought in Saha and van De Sar to get automatic promotion

Well, lets not count Ainsworth he was temporary

                          Gregory
                          De Canio
                          Dowie
                          Sousa
                          Magilton

                          Thats QPR.

I think you suffer from never providing the facts, not me.

haqpr1963, fact is he didn't put his money in his pocket until Fulham were getting at least 16,000 crowds and spent more when they were getting 19,000 odd.

We've spent far more, even allowing for todays standard of living
