They could have dealt with it the same way Stoke did. Quietly and largely out of the press if they wanted Magilton to stay.
Effective media department who build bridges with the media. Ian and Paul try their damndest to do a decent job but are blown apart time and again by careless talking and unprofessionalism from those who should know better.

and i suppose it gives my old mate Finney opportunity to see is quotes in print.

He is a classic example of someone that does little for our club yet loves things to go wrong so that he can phone up all the papers/tv companies to talk crap.

Ahem,Conners,do you suggest that our esteemed Sporting Director is the very model of discretion and professionalism?

rblockells, i know neither Finney nor the sporting director, but hate seeing my club portrayed in a negative light. Yes we have problems in house but i like them to stay that way. Whenever something goes wrong, all i see is finney in the newspapers or on the tv. Suggests to me, that he craves the publicity. Does nothing positive for our club when he has the spotlight.

Paldini on the other hand had by hook or crook kept our club going. Yes, we is probably not whiter than white, however, i genuinely believe that he wants the club to do well.

I can think of at least one other individual who leaks more damaging and more confidential matters to the media.

AFAIK - Paul Finney doesn't ring them. They ring him. Very different

If I can be controversial I still think we should sign him. There is no doubting his quality and just watch him go when he signs for Cardiff (or whoever) on a perm!!! He is the type of player who needs to be a fixture before he gives 100% and although it is frustrating I can see why as he knows that someone will come in for him whatever!

Will definitely come back to haunt us. I would have signed him personally.
