Jay Simpson is NOT a winger.
He is our top scorer and when played in the right place he scores.
I appreciate you've only been at QPR for a couple of weeks, but.....
West Brom (you would have watched it before being officially announced !) - Played out wide and was rarely involved.
Sheff Utd - Played out wide and was hardly involved until he moved more central late in the game, twice involved. 1 miss and the other a stone wall penalty - not given.
Bristol City - Returned to Centre Forward, rewards with a really well taken goal. So why move him out to the wing again ? Instantly he became ineffective again. You may as well just taken him off for all he contributed for the next 15/20 mins before you actually DID take him off.
Now last season, when on loan at West Brom. He played up front and scored regularly in his first few games. They moved him wide, the goals dried up and eventually he returned to @rsenal. Don't take my word for it, ask the West Brom fans !
If we persist in doing the same, he will not want to join us permenantly (Sterling deal or not). Equally, we will likely miss out on his improtant goals.
He is a striker, admittedly he could probably do with a big lump of a #9 along side him, but ask yourselves "Would Wenger play him on the right wing ?"
Routledge is the best right winger at this club for years. Play him there - Always - OK, occasionally swap him over to left, to keep opposition defenders on their toes, but mainly HE IS our wide right player.
Faurlin's not a left winger either. You were right to take him off yesterday, but he's much better as a more central player.
Taraabt is probably best placed on the left until Cookie returns.
Square pegs in round holes.....
