  • Shall we just now forget about this season......

and start planning for next season?

There is a lot of deadwood that we need to get rid of.

Once again the loan market has failed for us.

We need to start buying top quality players.

    We need top strikers.

    We need proper full backs.

    We need a proper manager.

We need to start playing players in their proper position.

We need to start doing something so all the floating fans start coming back.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Our chance is still alive. We are 2 points from Play-offs. In this league, anybody can beat anybody. Why should we surrender?

...but everything else is fine though? ;D

Anyway - I think we are most certainly not looking at anything other than a aplay off place at best, but then anyone can go up, so it's not a right off yet.

We can be the 6th best team and get into the Prem! :greedy:

our biggest problem is we sign players or loan them when available to us.

we never get the right player for our needs.

example: sousa's era we played a diamond midfield.. working well. - who do we sign? routledge.. totally disrupts that formation. we then play 4-5-1 and sousa's diamond is torn up.

as good as adel is, he is not a left winger.. (what we need) so again we have to put adel in and it makes us play players out of position.

if we have routledge we need to get the left-footed version of him and play a 4-4-2.

buz and adel are in the hole players but that then takes away some physicality from our play. simpson is a striker but because he hasnt got much physical presence the ball doesnt stick.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
            Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

Before this club can move forward there needs to be changes upstairs, something isn't working and most people share a similar opinion on what this is.

Hart needs to bring stability to this club and steady the ship that is all he is here for....so to answer the question of do we forget about the season?

We can keep on dreaming as long as there is something to play for but realsitically this season now appears to be another write off. We need to remove a lot of deadwood from the squad and rebuild. We need to learn from our mistakes.

I keep hearing top quality players??

WE ARE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. If they are in the championship plying their trade, by definition they are NOT top quality players.

Look at the failures and successes this season. I bet if I carried a poll before August what player would you prefer

                Harewood or Evans
                Lita or Simpson

Which of the two would you have picked?? Honestly. I bet the two you would have chose have not scored more goals now??

and thats just an example. We as fans think we know it all

Unless we address the glaring problem up front in January, then yes unfortunately. A couple of decent strikers with some height would turn us into a team that can challenge.

                          True.

                          All stems from that, IMO.

Well if true it is ridiculous.

As for the OP's question.... should we just forget about this season.... of course not. Things can change and very fast in this div. The fact all teams beat eachother means that the playoff pack generally don't distance themselves too far even if you go on a bad run so you can stay in contention, as we clearly are.

Don't forget it's only about 5 weeks ago we were absolutely flying, up to 4th a couple of points from top spot, fans raving about the style of play and praising Madge something silly with comments such as best football since the 70's..... Alslo seem to remember many chucking bets on us to win the league with some saying lump on before the Leicester game becasue when we roll them over the odds will be rubbish. The wheels then came off...... Ring any bells?

That was only 5 weeks ago roughly, we still have 5 months of the season left..... think about it.

You can dream that we will make the play offs, however realistically I don't think thats possible...
