How on earth did the club manage to line up the Harf/Hart ed duo so quickly?

Me too. The whole saga stinks of under hand tactics.
As fans, we'll probably never really know exactly what went on but the way that it has been handled, on the face of it looks like the board seem to have rushed into appointing Hart. Whether this is true is doubtful. Either way, the public perception is that Hart has been a panic option. Surely the board should have thought long and hard about appointing the right man for the long term, not just for half a season?

One of our ex Chairman told me that when Olly was mucking us about and talikng to other clubs, the football grapevine knew all about it and at that time we were contacted by many managers putting their case forward. I would imagine very similar happened here. It was obvious the JM had overstepped the line and his position was untenable, plus by all accounts he had a bit of a problem with the drink.RIP: Doug, Sniffer and Pat

You are probably right that managers, including Hart, stepped forward once they knew about Jim's position being untenable. However, surely the board of directors should have met and decided to undergo an interview process for the position of Team Manager?
Where does a six month managerial appointment fit in with a longer term plan? Come May 2010 the merry go round starts again!!!! WTF!
