Bit of a wider picture folks....
A friend of my older daughter was fined by the club for a bit of exuberant language a few games ago at LR. He's 18 years old and was fined £50. Easy option for the club but that's another story. Totally ridiculous by the club.
Last week, my daughter and this lad went along to the clubshop together and spent money in there that neither of them really have. This lad, who was fined by his own club, and has received a subsequent letter from them, still went ahead and gave them his money.
Oh, and neither of them were asked if they were season ticket holders (both are) which would have saved them a bit on their discount (both of them being young and foolish didn't even think about the discount).
Weekend before I last, I was in there. No jewellry on sale in the shop, online only. So that's a sale they lost. Then there was insistence on showing another card with your name on when producing a season ticket card. What if you had no other card on you? Plenty of youngsters wouldn't. Where does it say anywhere in writing that season ticket holders have to produce another card with their name on to receive their discount?
I recently received a letter from the club by way of a reply regarding the non AGM.s. These, by the way, now look as though they are a thing of the past, despite Board members actually stating at previous ones how they viewed them as symbolic for the minority shareholders.
The above are just silly little things that whilst individually are of course not deserving of any kind of protest etc. However, collectively it all grates and not too many years ago I would have been complaining to the club, nagging, asking for responses etc. However, as has been mentioned on this thread, even I have been hit by the old apathy thing.
On Monday, the girls and myself went to West Brom. We endured the cold, wet, rain, cold pasties at half time, their two goals etc. But that endurance was nothing compared to the utter joy of those two goals. In fact due to some over exuberant celebrating on my part, my mobile bounced out of my coat, hit the ground and ended up in different pieces/parts. I was still putting it together when the second goal went in lol and it was all more than worth it.
I probably haven't explained myself too well above, but what I'm trying to say is that despite the club ****ing us off, we'd go to the other side of the country to cheer our team on, finances allowing. As no doubt would everyone on this thead. However, unconditional support and love for our team/club does not mean that we cannot question things that upset us. It certainly does not mean that folk should feel reluctant to discuss with other QPR fans how concerned they are about different QPR issues.
What's needed is a fans forum. And not the kind that will only hold 50 or so in the blue and white bar. But a proper forum at a town hall where a structured Q&A session could take place. The problem is there's no-one at the club with the willingness to arrange such an event, and so when things such as recent events occur,it's only natural that we, as supporters, feel frustrated when there is no vehicle available which allows us to express our frustrations and concerns to the club.
So with a fans forum more than likely a no-go, JH count me in on your protest
