  • Groundhog Day at Loftus Road

I write this on the hypothesis that Magilton DID NOT head-butt Buzsaky. If it ever comes out that Magilton DID head-butt him, or assault him, then 100% Magilton should be sacked.

Right, to all those people siding with Buzsaky, wanting Magilton to go, I say shame on you. We have a situation where the club has succumbed to the petulant whims of individual egos. How can any club be less important than the wishes of its 'star' player? I cannot see how removing magilton from his position will allow this club to move forwards in any respect - I was categorically underwhelmed with his appointment however knew that he had to have at least one season to get a fair crack.

Admittedly he won me over with some of our displays, and admittedly I was starting to get fed up with recent favouritism for certain players, tinkering, and completely undermining all the good work he had achieved previously. Not at any point however did I think he should be removed until the end of the season if at all. If Magilton goes it will be a disgrace because again the club are using minor off the pitch matters (a la Sousa) to remove someone who is going through a bad spell.

Who do you think is going to come in? There are two camps for me of people who could come in: your run of the mill, bog standard managers who have invariably recently been sacked and represent the 'cheap' option - the southgates, harts, fergusons of this world. Do you honestly think of any of these guys are appointed they will last more than 6 months? At the first sign of disagreement, falling out with a player, the players KNOW that the board will side with them and remove the manager - how can any player have any respect for a man they know they can so easily undermine? I speculate now that if any of the above are appointed they will not last more than 6 months.

The second camp is slightly more promising: the coppells, curbishleys, men with more substance and greater track records of success. Suppose we could lure one of these guys to manage our shambolic club, how do you think they'll get on with Flavio and Paladini who are ridiculously fickle (Flavio declared "we are now complete" upon the ill-fated appointment of Paolo Sousa). I guess they will last less than 6 months and will be removed in similar circumstances to Iain Dowie.

So ultimately what I'm saying is that the club has a problem - it has no foundations or dare I say it, desire, to succeed the old fashioned way. How many of the following virtues does our club currently possess?

    Perserverance
    Grit
    Determination
    Integrity
    Loyalty
    Courage
    Strength

If you look at the great football clubs of this year(Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur) I don't mention Liverpool because they lack many of the above virtues and are therefore suffering on the pitch, then you'll see a great club is run properly from TOP to BOTTOM.

I don't think the issue is the management or the players - Dowie, Sousa, Di Canio, Magilton - they surely can't all be so bad, or our players - Routledge, Buzsaky, Gorkks, Watson, etc - they're all very good championship players. The issue is the club's upper echelon.

Therefore I propose we side with Magilton, we don't allow him to be removed in acrimonious circumstances and we let the world know we are a proper football club who doesn't take nonsense. Any player that is unhappy playing under Magilton should be transfer listed (and if thats the whole squad then so be it). No player is bigger than this club.

We need to show everyone we mean business and the very least we can do is show some courage and integrity and let the man who we deemed suitable to lead this club into the premiership the proper opportunity to do so.

its not a theory - i don't think you understand what I've said

to vblock - yes exactly - hence groundhog day........

to qprjames - the players don't like him so they should leave or deal with it. Otherwise we'll always be stuck with player power. at least give magilton a season
