I couldn't care less if we thump WBA 5-0, appointing Bircham/Gallen to take over until the end of this season would be absolute madness. We would be practically kissing any playoff or promotion hopes goodbye.

As for the possibility of appointing Southgate, I think it just show's the stupidity of our owners to go down THAT kind of route yet again. I would place money on him not even lasting until the end of this season. The owners are a JOKE, the club is a JOKE. Will they ever learn?!

Get in Curbishley to steady the ship, and stop going for the cheap options!

      2. Midds was his first job, and like any first job you make loads of mistakes. He is obviously an intelligent bloke, I would bank on him to have learnt from most of those mistakes and come back stronger. A fresh start is sometimes the only way for someone in their career.

I'd be interested in why people are not happy with him as a possibility.

Shearer anyone? Ha, except he couldn't bring his assistant!

Tend to agree with you stedders. Did he manage to keep Boro in the prem??:red_heart::red_heart:

Well he didn't keep them up, and that' fair comment, but as I said, it was his first job and he probably needs a second chance to use what he has learnt. It is hard to turn things around when in your first job, people tend to remember your mistakes and don't see you grow as a person.

If he got it, I wouldn't be at all disappointed, and we'd also know we had a manager with integrity.

Kept them up for three seasons despite his best players being sold under his feet. Did a decent job there IMO for a Boro side who overachieved year after year.

Having said that, I'd feel more secure and hopeful if it was Coppell.

My worry with Coppell is that he seems prone to being depressive. I like him, but I also wonder how hungry is he now?

Southgate would be a joke... better just be lazy journalist rumour because he's out of work.

Always looks like the lights on, but there's no one there.

I think this is just Pete's little scare tactic to try and make us love Jim again.

I can't believe you actually think Jim headbutted Buzz who is my fav player but this is all wrong and about player power. If Gareth Southgate becomes manager then Bernie I want a written apology Pm to me and I am sure other posters will expect one too. The grass is not always greener on the other side.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

For what it's worth, Southgate would at least bring back some integrity to the manager's post. But boy, if you lot thought Sousa was boring....

Nodge if southgate gets the job then thats our season finished.
Coppell is the man we need and if we don't get him then curbs would be my 2nd choice. Southgate should be below the top 100. Way to much of a nice guy. The players would chew him up and spit him out.

You'd be surprised. Ask Tuncay and a few others. He didn't stand on ceremony or respect ego's.

I maintain he did a great job at Boro. In the end was shat on by Gibson and will do a great job wherever he ends up next.

Certainly higher on any hypothetical list than the likes of Ince, Keane or Martin Allen.
