I know the majority won't agree with this and I am prepared to be shot down on this subject but I see no other solution. I think the manager's job at QPR has become a poison challice and there are only two ways to fix this. Either pump money into the playing staff and win promotion to the Premiership or appoint a manager and stick with them over a minimum period of 2 years.
No unemployed or half decent manager will turn down a Premiership club if they aren't already a Premiership manager. The chance to manage in what is regarded as the best league in the world will be the pinnacle of most managers careers. Not all good managers have and will manage in the Premiership but you'll struggle ever to get a Mourinho or Hiddink to manage in the Championship.
I hope I am proven wrong but I do not believe that either Coppell or Curbishley would at this stage or for a long time manage QPR or for that matter any other decent Championship manager. Who would want this job when they aren't guaranteed even a full season in charge?
For that reason we should stick with who we know and appoint Ainsworth. He would be accepted by the fans and the players because the vast majority understanding why the club would have to appoint him. Give him the job and the resources and when the time is right ask him to move aside. The draw against Reading, the win against Birmingham and turning the 2-0 deficit into a win all showed a true QPR character. Yes, other results weren't spectacular but how many times did Routledge, Buzsaky, Faurlin, Simpson, Taraabt, Watson etc play for him? He got good results with a much worse squad then we have now. Once the club have proven that we don't just hire and fire every few months the job will go back to being an attractive proposition for most. We have a long history of playing attractive football and have a set of players most football league managers would love to play with. Once Ainsworth has shown that Briatore and Co. can be trusted a do show faith in a manager then the likes of Coppell and Curbishley will want the job.
Give Ainsworth the job, support him in the transfer market and show him some faith. We have proven we can beat anyone on our day and with Ainsworth at the helm I believe we can return to this.
