  • Who stood and applauded at the end of Saturday ?

Having posted this on another thread, I'd like to know and understand answers to the following re Saturday.

I find it fascinating. Without wishing to start an arguement, I'd love to know what makes some people stand and applaud that load of abject rubbish ? Is it because people feel they have to ? is it because they think the playes care that much ? quite obviuosly they don't if only Gorkss applauded back, or is it that some just don't get that emotionally involved in the game to the point where they feel sick to the stomach at the humiliation like I did. I'm not saying they don't care, far from it, just that I don't understand them.

I walked, as did thousands of others as the fourth hit the net. No way back. Whats the point of torturing yourself seeing your team taken to the cleaners. In these situations, or whenever we've lost in fact, I've never understood the sort of person who goes "oh well" and laughs and jokes as they leave the ground with a smile on their face ?

In truth I truly envy those people, because I wish I could be like that. I hate everyone when we lose, can barely speak with disappointment, and it absolutely ruins my day.

Those players are living the dream. Money, job they love, security for life. When they perform as poorly, and look as disinterested as they did, and are responsible for the worst home defeat in a zillion years.....what the hell makes people applaud them off the pitch. What are they applauding ? Surely applause is an action of appreciation and I for one didn't appreciate what I saw. They are just doing their job after all. Does your boss stand and applaud you at the end of every day ? Does he stand and clap when you can't be ars*d to work and let others do your shift ? Does he hell !

I can only assume it's out of some assumption of utter loyalty that they HAVE to stay and clap if they are a TRUE loyal supporter.
At Derby after we humped them, what made some people hurl their white t shirts in disgust while others probably did the same as many on Saturday and stand and applaud.

It's interesting as I said. I'd love to know what makes someone stay, when my instinct is to get as far away from the place as possible. It's like watching your puppy being tortured ! :waaaht:

I walked before the fifth..only the second time ever i've ever done so. I walked as, well, i just couldnt be bothered. I also thought that there would be massive boos at the end - something i dont like so i thought i would show my utter disdain for them by walking out

Stayed till the end, only applauded Gorkks when he headed towards the fans. Mainly due to the fact that he had the bottle and courage to actually go to the fans and clap us first. The rest of the team,(maybe team i sthe wrong word) well the ones who happened to be awearing a QPR top on Saturday afternoon left down the tunnel as quick as possible.
I believe that Gorkks knew he had a stinker along with all the others but saw us still there and came to show his appreciation to us. Therefore only polite really to applaud him.

Don't think we applauded them to be honest. We did sing how much we supported the club in injury time and for me personally wanted to see what players would reconise the fact, these players were not being booed. Well. Gorkss and Borrowdale were the only two who responded to the fans.

We've been given stick for booing players off in the past and thats always had a negative response and we couldn't do much about the result on Saturday, so for me anyway it was about letting those players know, it was bad day at the office and time to move on. We have no chance of reaching the top 6 if the players and fans feel miles apart and at least this way, it shows we are in it all together. Players now have to respond, as many more defeats like Saturday, i don't think the fans will be as patient.

For me Pete, we are miles apart, the players and the fans. Anyone who thinks that they really care are deluded from what I see. There is no loyalty amongst those in the game, at least very little and those that pay their hard earned and expect them to give their best. Thats all we ask.
Take the POY dinners. Long gone are the days where were are all "one" together. I bet most of them see it as a chore and cant wait to get home or out on the town afterwards. We saw that last year.

I've never boo'd, but like Scott said, nor will I stand and appreciate that load of old t*ss. Walking out and turning your back speaks volumes, but only to those that want to listen and care. My walking out was not a statement of disgust, I just couldn't watch any more. It was humiliating.

The only thing for sure is that by 5pm Sturday we all had less in our pockets and theirs were fatter. Your right, tonight will tell us everything we need to know !

Now this is what I want to understand. What's amazing about the fans that stayed ? The fact that anyone stayed at all makes me wonder about them. Don't get me wrong, this is only the second time I've ever walked out and I hate losing with a passion, but if we've been pathetic I cant stand and applaud. I cant bring myself to do it. It was the manner in which we lost that made me walk out in and I cant understand why everyone else didnt feel the same.

Amazing or amazingly stupid, thats the question for me ?

as pete said no1 really clapped the players, just sung till the end to show were behind them through thick and thin, also there were a few that done ok, should they be chucked aside all cause others were poor, yeah i know its a team game but some still show commitment like gorkss and borrowdale.

Must change my mobile number, If I had anti swearing software on my 'phone I'd have only heard one word in ten.

I hate losing, but I know I can't change what has happened, so can take a more pragmatic view.

It's like when we played on the same team, I always came off the pitch with a smile on my face because I loved playing, the if we won the smile was wider, but it was always there.

Not trying to belittle anyones feelings, but to put it into context, no one died.

I stayed till the end as i always do, can't walk out before the end of a game no matter what. Will admit to being totally pee'd off about the game but cant bring myself to leave.

Fair comment, can't disagree with that. However the fact that we're all still there after year upon year of the thinnest thin possible is testament to one of two things....A) we are all loyal beyond the call of duty or B) We'd still all rather be at football on a Saturday than at home with the missus !
