We did not have the usual swagger today and in my view thats because we played too much respect. I can imagine all week the teamtalk being about the dangers they posed and maybe to much emphasis on the quality they have in the Middlesborough team. With most opponents this season, you can tell we seize the intitiative and with Gorman already admitting to being friends with Strachan, i wonder whether we worried too much about their strengths and did not concentrated on ours. Peterborough proved a week earlier you can get at them, at no-time today did any of our players believe we could win this game. Even after we scored to make it 1-2, I could sense the players did not have the confidence to go for it. The crowd today before kick-off was very quiet today and I don't think many of us were convinced either we could win the game. I sense its the case, when we play anyone big at Loftus Road.
The first half hour was played like a practice match, with no tempo and no diagonal runs and every time we tried to get around a defender they tackled and blocked everything.
It was far too casual, Watson is light years away from the player who impressed whilst at Crystal Palace and our defence went back to playing the long ball. Buzsacky may need to be on the bench, his confidence seems to shot to pieces.
I've maintained all along that Legiterwood is not captain material. I really don't care if he plays right back or not, as I think he gets stronger as the game progresses, but when you need a player to get stuck in and get the players motivated, he is not the one to do it.
