  • My Theory..On Why We Played So Bad

We did not have the usual swagger today and in my view thats because we played too much respect. I can imagine all week the teamtalk being about the dangers they posed and maybe to much emphasis on the quality they have in the Middlesborough team. With most opponents this season, you can tell we seize the intitiative and with Gorman already admitting to being friends with Strachan, i wonder whether we worried too much about their strengths and did not concentrated on ours. Peterborough proved a week earlier you can get at them, at no-time today did any of our players believe we could win this game. Even after we scored to make it 1-2, I could sense the players did not have the confidence to go for it. The crowd today before kick-off was very quiet today and I don't think many of us were convinced either we could win the game. I sense its the case, when we play anyone big at Loftus Road.

The first half hour was played like a practice match, with no tempo and no diagonal runs and every time we tried to get around a defender they tackled and blocked everything.

It was far too casual, Watson is light years away from the player who impressed whilst at Crystal Palace and our defence went back to playing the long ball. Buzsacky may need to be on the bench, his confidence seems to shot to pieces.

I've maintained all along that Legiterwood is not captain material. I really don't care if he plays right back or not, as I think he gets stronger as the game progresses, but when you need a player to get stuck in and get the players motivated, he is not the one to do it.

i think Jim should look at the preston, reading & derby games again and see for himself where he got it right and step back from tinkering.

It didn't matter who we played or going to play, our manager should be telling the boys to go out there and bring back the 3 points at 90 minutes regardless.

Most of our shots go over and they should start taking shots that stay low and on target, one may go in sometime and as Joe said... we fans can't score from up there and we're off side anyway!

We need to get the basics right first!

Agree with you Quaz, I said that today.

totally agree. Gorkks for captain? Or for me....and going to get shot down here but sign watson and make him captain. We all (ok most) know he's class and he will get his form back....and if he does, he'll take us up with faurlin alongside

Well said.. I do though think Fitz Hall,Mikele Leigertwood & Ben Watson should be ousted from the squad.

Radek Cerny perhaps removed & see how we get on with someone else.

i think credit for today has to go to strachan.

they did a job on taarabt. marked out of the game.

they gave us no time on the ball so we couldn't play.

and we have no plan b. once they did all of the above we did not have an answer.

Can't people just accept the fact we are not that good and regardless of what Pete said the other day in response to me, we are in a little rut and JM aint got a clue as to what needs to be done.

The defence is shipping goals like a ##### on a good day and again - regardless of what Pete advocates - our goals tally is not what it is made out to be. We scored 12 in 3 games and 20 in 16, so something is wrong with the formation and/or players.

It just goes to prove how continual loan signings are not the way forward and the actual signings aint that great either. GP is the man responsible (as he seems to get all the pludits for Buzz, Taarabt and Routledge etc) for bringing them in so he gets the blame for having a weak squad and average team.

                .....

                  I'm going to bed.

These players don't become bad overnight.

Okay Boro scored 5, but they had 8 shots.

That just goes to show how bad the defence is then and needs to be sorted asap.

                        5 from 8. good record

thats the difference between us and them.

you also seem to be suggesting that we are just in poor form. but what if the good form we had was a purple patch and our current form and our early season form is our true level. something to ponder.

It is a team game so defending from the top is required, but when you have all these so-called flair players in the team, who exactly is going to do the defending? We obviously can't rely on Hall!
