There is nothing new here at all. Since the Blackburn win and the Newcastle blip there has only ever been two teams fighting it out. Man U and Ars then Man U and Chel.

Why? Because they had the cash. Same in every league everywhere. Annoys me when pundits say money doesn't buy success...because it does in every league in the world.

However, RA will not keep spending the 200 million a year for Chelsea.

We are also one club that has the "potential" to spend that money - so smile you miserable lot!

Anyway, if rules changes that are being pushed come into play, where a club can spend in relation to its revenue (like in Gremany) things will get FAR, FAR worse, not better. It may mean City and Chelsea are screwed, but it means no one will ever get near Man U.

The CCC is a fantastic league where everyone can and does beat everyone but you always want to test yourself at the highest level.

Albeit this league is tighter, but the prospect of going Liverpool, and having Fulham, arsenal and Chelsea coming to town is much more exciting than the likes of Plymouth, s****horpe, peterboro, Palace and coventry.

Do I enjoy the games in this league? Yes, its so tight and exciting. Am I still hoping we get out of it and mix it with the big boys? Hell yeah.
I think you echo the sentiments of the majority of sensible fans on here and yes we would all like to see us compete at the highest level.

However, once we've established ourselves more than likely as a mid table PL team then that IMO is it. I don't believe there will be no greater achievement than mid table mediocrity unless as the Boro fan in the original article pointed out there is a massive shake up off how the game is run at the highest level.

Personally I have been in favour of opening the door and allowing the biggest teams in the English game to join a European League. Football in this couintry doesn't need them, this is not the SPL we can survive without them and be better for it.

          Yes excactly.
We wouldn't be a pro club if we didn't want to progress and try and challenge the best.
With our backing you never know, it is all about how serious our board want to be.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I don't know whether it's still the case or not, but in one of the US major sports, every season, each club has the same given budget, and all the players go into a pool and are bid for and shared out until they're all allocated. The idea is to produce more even leagues. Anyone have more info on it?

I think they call that the "draft". I think its american football and MLS.

People think that the ####s don't like football, but its massively popular over there, but they prefer to support the established leagues, like EPL and La Liga. Just like basketball fans in the UK watch NBA rather that Kiddymister Penguins or whatever the hell they call themselves...

I think we would all like to watch the great premiership players of the day play live, but it's hard to enjoy yourself when they are ripping your heart out by beating your team, no matter how pretty the play is.

I think the days of a provincial team taking the title are long gone, even if a modern day Nottingham forest or Derby, with a brilliant manager and a few good players were to emerge, the big boys would entice those good players and sit them on the bench to prevent them from playing against them.

Exactly so after you've been to OT or Anfield a few times and the excitemnet of watching us play against these teams fades what do you have to look forward to at best....The Europa Leage?

the top 4 should go into a European League and let the rest get on with it. Most of the people going to see these clubs are simply glory hunters anyway.

Sky has definitely been responsible for breaking up football as we know it from 20 years ago

So you would rather stay a midtable team in the CCC, paying prem prices, than watch us do the same against higher quality teams and seeing world class players?

Okay, we all want to play the best, but its not a level playing field anymore. Games like Saturday are evenly matched and to me that makes it more exciting, have manchester United at home and you know the result before the start and you'll pay double for the privelige.
I don't think so. The football is truely awful!

I dont get what you are getting at here? So you would rather stay in the CCC, best hoping for a flirt with the play offs and go through and do it year after year?

Or do the same, but in the prem and actually watch world class football, and travel to top european teams if we got into europe?

I agree with a lot what the Boro fan says ...how boring must it be to be a Fulham, Wigan, West Ham etc etc fan? ...every season mid-table you know you ain't going to do any better ...if your lucky you might get a bit of excitement from a relegation scrap!

On the flip side though we have to have something to aim for otherwise there would be no point in turning up to watch ...ideally you would want the excitement of reaching the Play-Off's every season as that would mean you've won lots of games ...and once your there you would obviously want to win them ...no point in saying the CCC is the best league and we want to stay there as its competitive as season after season of mid-table CCC or Play-Off losers would soon become boring.
