  • Beckford....something about him

I have watched a few Leeds games recently and of all the players mentioned on here I think that Beckford is really someone we should break the bank for. I know there are questions on his attitude etc but when you watch him he has that something extra.

He is lightening quick, very skillful and finishes really well. Looks different to the usual big lump forwards in Div 1 who score loads but don't have the potential to step up.

I think this bloke will end up in the Premiership and will score goals.

Added to all of this he has come into the pro game late and will have the desire to succeed.

Would love us to sign Beckford - sadly just can't see it.

Interesting all this stuff about his attitude. Watched the Kettering-Leeds game on Sunday, and didn't see any evidence that he seemed distant or isolated from his teammates. I did see him pull teammates away from the ref a couple of times when they could have perhaps got themselves booked for backchat. I saw him acknowledge work done by teammates. I saw him mobbed by teammates when he scored.

He's stayed at Leeds when others would have been gone ages ago. He's continued to score and put himself about for them and doesn't appear to be "saving himself" for a move.

What exactly is the "problem" that he's supposed to have?

        Disagree.

There's nothing to differentiate him from players like Izale McLeod, Billy Sharp and, going back further, Trevor Senior. Will score a hatful of goals in the bottom two divisions but clearly hasn't got the game to do it at a higher level. Consistently scored goals for 3 seasons at the lower level but not one club has seriously come in for him. Speaks volumes IMO. And Uncle Ken hasn't been in any position to turn down a bid of two bob, despite his public utterances.

I'll eat my tweed flat cap if he ever scores a goal in the Premier League.

Someone will get their fingers very badly burned with this boy and dearly hope it isn't us.

I don't know really. Some players seem to have this question mark about there attitude.

He does have a tattoo on his neck though?

Did you see his finish against Kettering? Class. Great run and deft controlled finish.

The players you mention have no skill whatsoever. Did you know Chelsea were touch and go whether to sign him. The only way we'll know is when he moves to Newcastle in January.

Agree with Kingy, Beckfords a very good player who will score goals at a higher level.

He also doesnt have an attitude problem, but maybe the fact that hes a black man clouds certain peoples views on that, because I see simular comments about Leroy Lita and DJ Campbell?

I think there was one thing earlier in the season where he kicked a goalie or something? But apart from that his disciplinary record is very good.

Is he Stephen Hunt in disguise?

As I have said many times before he is class and when he does move it will sadly be to a bigger club than us. His positional sense and first touch are what set him apart from other lower league goal machines.

Cox is starting to score goals for fun in this league.
I think most need to remember that Dexter did call this one.
Beckford IMHO is overrated but I do have very good inside info now with someone that works in the club that the Beckford deal looks to be happening in jan. Not a massive fan but we do need a goalscorer and he might be able to step up to a higher level. Signs from when he was last in the championship say not but lets hope the confidence he has got from league 1 will help him.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

No idea of any attitude problem but there is other stuff knocking around. 3 years no takers.

                          Not twaddle

Absolute twaddle, clubs have asked about him, pete even said we did, but he is not being sold and he will walk for nothing at the end of the season, once Leeds have been promoted and his goals have helped the club earn around 10M in additional revenue.

10M in extra revenue I doubt it would be that much.
Regarding how good he is I think your being a little premature Mr Mason
