  • Ramage at CB?

Lots of talk going on about our best CB pairing, and not once have I seen Ramage mentioned. Seems that most consider him a natural CB, so is it maybe time to give him a chance there? I think he's proven that he's better on the ball than many thought, which it seems matters to Magilton for CB, and I don't think many question his defensive abilities. Other than that he's perhaps a little on the small side, I can't see why he wouldn't at least get a chance, especially as Connolly has that problem too...

    Thoughts?

Way to slow for a centre-back, and not good enough in the air, which is where our problems are.

Slightly off topic but Roy Keane has converted Delaney to a CB and he is suppose to be some sort of relevation according to Ipswich fans

Interesting, I would have said speed was much less important for a CB than a full back (though obviously you want a pacey CB if possible), and that Ramage is considerably faster than Hall and Gorkss (who in my view is our best CB despite being maybe the slowest player in our squad). I also think Ramage's aerial ability is probably his greatest strength...despite being a little slim for a CB (like Connolly) he's still 6'1...

And he don't end up hoofing the ball into the left hand stand while attacking.

Not really that much of a shock as he did much of his best work at Hull as a CB. Like so many of our recent full backs a converted CB....

People argued that Terry was too slow to be a centre back but he hasn't had a bad career. Ramage IMO could easily play at CB.

Yea, I just don't understand why, when we have a CB problem, that a player on our books with 51 appearances in the Premier Leage, a natural CB, isn't getting a look in. That's all

And neither can Hall or Gorkss, and neither particularly can Connolly. The only CB with any pace we have is Swewpeas...

and he is a f ucking liabilty!!!!!!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

LOL, back that up with something and I may follow your orders. To me, Ramage has faltered when getting turned upside down by skillful wingers. You don't have to deal with that in the same way as CB...and that's supposedly Ramage's natural position. Listen, he can't have been first choice at Newcastle under both Sounness and Roeder, until Allardyce arrived, if he was useless. He's proved he can do a job for us at FB, admittedly I don't think he's good enough there, but he's gotta be an option at CB when others are faltering...
