  • Hope Bendtner Makes a Speedy Recovery...

    Evening Standard:

Gunner Jay Simpson is ready for a call to arms
    Ben Hunt
    30.11.09

JAY SIMPSON hopes that his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers is going well enough to prove he is worthy of a future at Arsenal, writes Ben Hunt.

The Gunners are in the midst of an injury crisis with Dutch striker Robin van Persie out injured for five months and Nicklas Bendtner still on the treatment table.

Simpson, 20, is on loan at Loftus Road until the end of the season but has a recall option, and took his tally to eight goals in 14 starts for Rangers in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Coventry.

He said: "I want to score goals at the highest level and I believe I can do that. I know Arsenal send someone to watch all my home games and they keep copies of my performances. Even with the injuries, though, I don't know what position I'd be in if I went back.

"Scoring obviously can't have done my chances any harm and I'm still really close with the young guys at Arsenal."

Don't panic, we've got Pat and Pellicori.

hmm true and we could possibly bring back Carmine on an emergency loan?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Simpson will never kick at ball for Arsenal again, he is here for the season, he is in the shop window and quite frankly isn't good enough to play for Arsenal.

            I agree W12.

They've still got Eduardo, Vela and Walcott all of whom are a million miles better than Simpson. Do rate him though in a Championship context.

Reality is, Simpson wasn't even good enough to get into the League Cup so called 2nd team.

He will want to play at the highest level and might get there, but not yet. At least another 2-3 years if he has any chance of breaking into Arsenal's first 11.

I need to confirm this but I believe Simpson was actually offered to us not the other way around.

He won't be going back to Arsenal, his our IMO if we want him.

think you will find that Simpson got 2 goals last season against Wigan in the 4th round of the league cup
