  • I Agree With Chris Coleman

'For 20 minutes or so in the second half QPR put on the best performance I have seen from a side in this division," said Coleman.

"We could not get near them and at times were hanging on.

'They were excellent but we came back. They did have chances but their second goal was a deflection and when you are on a run like ours, that can happen.

'I think this is a great point for us. All teams will come here and will struggle. They are a strong squad and we have been on a drastic run, but hopefully that will give us a platform.'"

I've said it before but in footballing terms we are the best side in the division we need to convert that ascendancy that we have so often into points though!

So, as always that'll be thr lack of a goal poacher up front then...

Pretty stuff is all well and good, but how long can we rely on the Spectacular goals?

Any succesful team will scorr tap ins and from corners / throw ins / crosses from free kicks. Apart from Gorkks at Sheff Wed, how many have fallen into that category. Yes, we have goals in this team, but simply can't continue to rely on the spectacular.

We have scored 31 goals this season..

Simpson is on target for 20 goals this season.

Its not scoring thats the problem, its conceding them.

even when you score 2 at home, you should be winning

              It's not simply a case of either/or.

It's BOTH defensive and attacking play that shape results, and the points total at the end of the season.
              Both can be improved.
Simpson could do with some help, and the defence could do with being more solid.

Seems quite obvious to me, but doesn't make for a row/debate.

You say it's not scoring that's the problem but we could have scored six times in that second half period yesterday and have been creating a lot of chances this season, these are chances that need to be taken, Simpson is doing a great job up front but in my opinion we need more versatility up front, more of a poacher/fox in the box

To be honest we need someone in the box, never is when you want someone in there.

Best dropped back and defended our corners well. Won a few headers in his own box.

We have nobody in our front 4 who can do that, and help out our centre backs when the opposition have set-pieces. Our full backs aren't the greatest in the air either... that equals pressure, and a constant threat from the other team.
And that happened yesterday - twice.
2 points lost, because of that.

So signing a big strong centre forward would be a big help... at BOTH ends.

Well that means we're poor at set pieces at both ends.

With the current squad, the back four problem is easily solved - pick your two best Centre. Backs and then stick with them.
Three or four weeks ago we were solid with Stewart and Gorkks there, suddenly its Connolly and Hall.

OK, so Connolly is our best defender, but why change a partnership that was succesful for most of last season and this?

...And why pick Hall anyway when he's no better, the team appears poorer with him there and he will be injured before he's completed three games on the trot?

Up front, the squad is not good enough and has not been for three seasons. OK, so we've not missed the sitters Helguson did last year, but the number of times we've put quality into the box that no-one has gambled on is shocking at times.

Yes, that's exactly what it means.

We've scored two headed goals all season... and neither of those two scorers played yesterday.
One was on the bench, the other is at Watford FC.

That seems to be the problem, especially at home,at the moment.Far too many draws at home (5).Performances have been match-winning on the vast majority of home games. We need to tighten up at the back.We need a mixture of Sousa's defensive tactics and Magilton's attacking ones. Not quite as easy in practice as it sounds though.

The problem here is of course fitness - Hall comes in and plays his 60 odd minutes before picking up another knock and it's all change next game; Connolly was out for ages and Stewart has picked up a niggle - you can only pick your best pair and stick with it if they stay fit - which hasn't bben possible at all this season.
