We started very brightly but Cov took the lead through a slightly fortuitous header from a free kick lumped into the box. Best won the header and looped over Cerny who I think lost track of the ball mid air. Anyway we pressed on and after Best headed another chance just wide, boos erupted from Loftus Road (apparently the away team aren't allowed chances at HQ anymore?). However we got the equaliser around 35mins in, a delightful chipped throughie from Faurlin and expertly finished on the volley from Jay (must be 8/9 goals so far?). Then there was some Cov pressure just before the break but the sides went in one apiece. We came out 2nd half with fire in our bellies and Taarabt hit the bar with an exquisite chip, amongst other numerous chances. Then we finally got the breakthrough on about 70mins with a deflected Buz shot and the roof nearly came off! Shortly after Magilton took off Taarabt who had been at the centre of everything and brought on Reid, in a somewhat naive change. We sat back and paid the price somewhere around the 80th minute, with Wood scrambling home from a free kick, *mass groans all around w12*. Their right back was sent off for 2 bookable offences after about 85mins and they were generally a very dirty side. We couldn't find the elusive 5th goal however and the game ended 2-2. Throughly entertaining and frustrating stuff. On the way home got absolutely drenched and was nearly mugged in the underpass. My small white frame wearing a hoodie nearly offended a few youth with their rather frightful dogs, but the leader objected and 'allowed the brere (i think that was me)'. And this was in Chiswick
A few points:
1. Yet more ****** from the offish regarding tickets. 13,142 there today and Lower Loft was not sold out
2. Magilton's change after we scored the 2nd was poor and naive, he also should have made an attacking change in the last 5, perhaps Ageymang to stretch the 10 men.
4. We need to buy a Leon Best type striker, we don't have any physical prescence and we need a plan B as our two strikers Jay and Wayne are 5 foot 4 added together!
5. At least we aren't Barnsley! They made the very long trip down to Plimuff and their game was abandoned with them winning 4-1 At least we aren't Bristol City either, they scored a 95th minute winner to make it 2-2 after being 2 down against Sheff United, but they lost it 3-2 with a 96th minute goal!!!
6. Brentford and Luton in the hat for tomorrows draw and my Fa Cup sides played out an entertaining 4-3 game at stadium mk with the dons beating exeter.
7. If you cant be arsed to read the whole thing, we gazeboed them the whole game and should have won
