could be the problem Scott!! personally i think we're trying to put square pegs in round holes all over the place

only 1 recognized right back (not including legs) we've just signed a left back & apparently we're already looking at another in Bale at Spurs!!

only 1 recognized forward, trying to play midfielders up front

a goalkeeper on loan but we already have 6 on loan, so a Loanee can't be in the match day squad

it all sound a bit of "lets try things as we go along" scenario very worrying if you ask me!

We should not be tinkering. Its like if we draw or lose, we have to change it, instead of simply accepting that we are not going to win every game

4 attacking players, with 2 holding midfielders.

Pete you talk like it is us doing the tinkering. Magilton is the one changing the side. He did it at the begining and the results weren't good enough and he is doing it again and the result is the same. When we had consistency and plan we were unstoppable. He needs to either return to this or create a new plan and stick to it.

            I agree.

He tinkered against doncaster to accomodate Reid, hopefully lessons have been learn't.

So in your opinion, the following players are most effective as
                    Routledge a striker ?
                    Tarabbt a Right winger ?
and Buzz a left winger ?

we're not playing 4-4-2, and we haven't all season.

it's 4-2-3-1. Faurlin and currently Watson as the 2, and Buzz, Routs and Tarby as the attacking 3, all switching places as they see fit.

Perhaps Taarabt in the free role behind simpson, routledge on the right, and buzz on the left...

two things that need to be sorted.

Its not two defensive midfielders its one holding and one as the playmaker, that means Faurlin + 1 of Reid and Watson to play a disciplined role as Mahon had done in all our best performances.

Secondly restore Stewart / Gorks as the default CB partnership, Stewarts form may not have been as good as last season , but his pace allows the defence to play higher and thus the midfield and the rest of the team. As much as I rate connelly neither Connelly Gorks or Hall have any pace and we end up playing 10 yards deeper because of it.

Magilton accidently happened upon a balance that worked and now he is starting to undo that.

                          Formula is.

                          Pace at the back
One holding one playmaker in midfield
Interchangeable attacking 4 but CF must also have pace

Areas available for tinkering full backs

Then what he needs to work on is a plan b i.e if we are being pressed out of a game the ability to go more direct but again with pace (my suggestion would be a 4-3-3 with Ageymang playing wide on the full back.

IMO, Tarabbt up front is a complete waste of time.

can't argue with that, but when we do go more direct it always seems to be Taarabt that comes off, and he's our most dangerous player, still think we are trying to accommodate to many midfielders tho
