I know the argument for the reason why Helguson is scoring is because he suits the Watford way. But what is the Watford way? In his final match against West Ham for Watford in 2005 only 2 other players remain from the squad that played that day - Doyley and DeMerit. DeMerit hasn't appeared for Watford since Helguson has returned so is the argument that Doyley has a remarkable influence on the style that Watford play and it suits Heidar's game? At Watford, Helguson has played under Graham Taylor, Vialli, Lewington, Boothroyd and now Mackay. They can't all play the sort of football that suits Helguson game. They can't also play a style of football that is impossible for us to mimic when plan A isn't working for us.

Best and Hooper are both young and either maybe considered a long term investment but why should we continue to help a rival (Watford have the same points as us after the same amount of games) by supplying them with a goal scorer who could be scoring for us? The rate that Helguson is scoring in the same league against the same opposition is twice as good as Best and almost three times as good as Hooper. We are deseparate for a goal scorer and are all talking about the likes of Hooper and Best but why don't we just recall Helguson to start with? Helguson is scoring a goal every 74 minutes this season compared to Simpson who is scoring a goal every 141 minutes.

heidar dont score here cos he dont feel confident n comfortable in front of our fans. watford worship him, where as alot of our 'fans' just get on his back, resulting in double pressure on poor old helguson. sh1t fans

Watford play a similar style to us, they don't launch the ball up there for him to win, they try to play it on the ground. I can't see why (if fit) he can't do what he's doing for Watford , for us if recalled.

Agreed. Even if our styles were different we should play to the strenghts that we have. If we have a striker who scores goals by playing a certain way then play for that. We've adapted our style to suit the play makers so if and when this fails we should adapt it to suit Helguson's game.

          That's my opinion as well.

And 5 goals in 2 starts for Watford is the evidence.

I'd have Helguson back, yesterday was crying for a player like him.

Helguson thrives on a certain type of ball in the box...something we didn't adapt our game to.....

If Watford want Helguson for peanuts in January then we should just recall him for December....we will halt there Play Off charge and nab an in form striker for a busy month

Then I would sell him to Watford in January or any other takers for that matter....risk worth taking IMO with games we have got coming up.

That wouldn't be a bad idea. As soon as they get desperate for his goals they'll pay more. HH isn't the long term solution because of his age and condition but in the short term we could do with him over Pellicori and Agyemang and if we could get a better price for him at the same time then even better.

I said this ages ago play to helgussons strenghs and he will score,he thrives on crosses and hes a poacher its no good if we continue to play down the middle arsenal like, he'll be useless,we need to mix it up if that is case i would recall him but i still feel we need a long term replacement because he is injury prone

Helguson's all round play is excellent, it was his scoring that was obviously a problem for us - confidence... Probably didn't help that his first touch ever for us was a missed open goal at Palace. Our fans are very vocal in their disappointment at matches... Self-fulfilling prophecy...

He's our player at the end of the day, we own him and if we wish to recall him then sorry Watford that's life.

We could always soften the blow for a month and give them Pellicori on loan

IMO this loan spell has done wonders for his confidence, still a good squad player for us and he could be our Plan B option which everyone is saying we don't have. With Cook coming back and an in form Routledge we have natural width which could be utilised when our famous 4 can't find a way through as we switch to a conventional 4-4-2 to grind out a result.

That would make a very decent Plan B especially if we were to sign Leon Best as well. With 20 minutes to go revert to proper wingers crossing the ball in for the stronger more physical players.

Sir Pie I think at times your stats are very useful and highlight players on form etc.
However on this occassion I don't think these stats prove anything. You can't compare hooper, best and simpson. Hooper plays for clearly the worse side out of the 3 so will have far fewer chances per game. The mins on pitch and goal ratio mean nothing as it doesn't highlight chances that have been created for them. I do think Simpson playing upfront on his own would show that in the last 2 games we have also created sod all. I think Hooper in a better side would improve those stats drastically
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
