  • Match report from Donny

Early back for me today. only 100 mile hack down the A1. Ninth game for me this year

OK where do I start. Firstly it would appear the international break came at the wrong time for us, and it would appear that teams are now doing their homework on us.

Let's make no mistake. We were played off the park by a better team today, although Donny's league position does not relate to their home form which is far better.

Starting places for Williams and Reid and good to see Connolly back.

    Started 4-5-1
Early doors, i think we forgot we had signed a full back as Tommy saw no balls played out wide his side and Buzacky very quiet. Didn't appear much passion about the R's but the only danger was our insistence to play it out from the back. Whilst this is admirable, we were closed very quickly and started playing intricate little triangles in our area putting a teammate under increasing pressure with every pass.
The midfield of Reid and Watson never got going. Faurlin's game was mixed and a few stray passes. He didn't reappear for the second half. Reid particularly poor and looked off the pace. I hope it's not in his contract that he has to play as Taraabt made way for him.
Simpson on his own up front, with routledge seeming to be the only player looking forward.

Can't really comment on the goals. Too far away to report with any accuracy.

Second half, Taarabt was the difference again [why didn't he start] and things looked positive. Simpson missed when almost one on one within one minute of the restart.
Pat and Pellicorri came on for Simpson and Buzacky. Now 4-4 2 .Buzacky had done nothing for me and deserved to go.
Pat did some good runs and Pellicori did nothing to speak of.
Only Routledge and Taarabt seemed to want to win.

Shocking shot from Taarabt [30m over] and a very dodgy corner where he either scuffed it or was trying to beat Sullivan at his near post ended a frustrating afternoon for Taarabt, but he was our best player on the day.

Donny strung about 40 passes together whilst cheering every one followed by "We're just too good for you"...which they were

Left on 90 mins. A dreary wet, drive home in the dark was more appealing than the 4 extra minutes added on.

Lastly the worst thing this afternnoon was sitting close to an absolute muppet who didnt stop whining and talking ****e all afternoon. He posts on here so I won't name him, but wind your neck in fella....
One particularly well put together rant was F*kc u F*kcing ncuting F*Kc
    Charming!

Can't remember one shot on target. How we miss Rowlands & Mahon out there!
    Nice stadium by the way.

Over now to SM1882 for a far more eloquent report later

Sounds pretty much as expected, we do tend to be spectacularly crap when we don't play well! Taarabt not starting and Reid getting the nod despite clearly not being match fit, at least give him another week of training with the team! Still onto the Coventry game where I will be expecting better than the last two home games!
