Hell no mate, we would probably get stick for a few weeks then it would be forgotten.

I feel sorry for the Irish but all this crap about a replay is ridiculous. If FIFA sactioned a replay it will set precedent for all future fixtures and every time there is a bad refereeing decision people will be calling for a replay.

People may argue that is is different because it is a very important fixture, but I don't see that.

The fact is FIFA, UEFA and the FA should be working harder to ensure that the correct decisions are made at the time rather than dealing with the fall out after the game. More money should be invested into researching goal line technology, additional officials placed behind the goal, video replays etc.

I'm not suggesting that we employ all of these tactics at once (not trying to turn the game into american football), but I think more should be done to ensure the officials are making the correct decisions as football is big business these days. 3 blokes with a couple of flags and a whistle don't cut it anymore!

It's not about whether we'd want to or not...it's about seeking some justice.

Henry shoud at very least be banned from France's next 10 competetive games, forcing him out of the World Cup. This wouldn't make it up to Ireland, but it would at least soften the blow.
        Your mum would love me...

There'd be a lot of players missing from a lot of games if that happened.

What Thierry Henry did last night was no worse than what Eduardo did, what Darren Bent did, Drogba, Rooney, Pires, N'Gog... they should ALL be banned from games for cheating.

But UEFA tried it with Eduardo... Arsenal apppealed and defended their cheat, case dropped, too much money at stake. Uefa bottled it.

Until FIFA, the FA, Uefa start handing out bans for cheating, this will never end. It's the only way players will have any fear of doing things like that. At the moment there is no comeback on them - they just plead innocence.

This is not about Henry, or the ref (who was unsighted) it's all about FIFA, and their cowardly attitude to football.

They wont replay it because it would mean having to replay other fixtures where there was a missed incident.

The only game I recall being replayed was a WC qualifer for the 2006 finals, when a ref misunderstood the rules about encroaching at a penalty. Rather than retaking the penalty, he awarded a goal kick!!!

It would be far better if they introduced a video ref and in most cases the correct decision will be reached in less time than it currently takes for the game to restart after all the protests. And it wouldn't result in unfair yellow & red cards being awarded to the protesting team.

No more illegal handballs resulting in goals scored/saved, divers winning penalties or getting opponents sent off etc.

But of course, FIFA dont want justice. Look no further than the 2002 Finals on how Portugal, Italy and Spain were all cheated out of the World Cup in favour of South Korea.

I can recall another game, Arsenal vs Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup.

Arsenal didn't give the ball back after it was kicked out for an injury and went up the other end and scored the winning goal. Both teams agreed to a replay and the FA sactioned it!

Yep - I don't really care who it is against but if Kaspars punches one in or Adel is felled by a rogue piece of turf to seal promotion in any way shape or form I'd be delighted. We've been d1cked so many times in the past with ropey decisions and bogus rules and regs (being denied a place in the Inter City Fairs Cup in 1967 as the League suddenly decided it was only open to top flight clubs still rankles with my old man) that I wouldn't have any qualms whatsover in winning in that manner.

The moral compass can go take a hike!

It would be a brave player to tell the ref not to award a penalty or a goal and thus deny the club a £60m windfall in PL money with Flavio watching...........:boss:

All part of the game these days, let it be. Even at non league level its part of the game, I openly admit Ive taken a tumble a few times. I know what I would rather...get up and score the pen for 3 points or care about the oppositions feelings

That would make up some how in a weird way for the penalty that should not have been given against Spurs in the Cup Final, the Man Utd goal in the 99th minute that relegated us and loads of other decisions that have not gone our way over the years and as it is viewed as part of the game now, its accidental handball and promotion for me.

PS: I support use of Video replays which would get rid of this b00llocks overnight, if the t00sers let it be used, but it will never be discussed until the French get cheated out of the Euros or world cup like the Paddy's did last night.

I wondered if you'd post on this thread. So you want Flav thrown out of football because he broke the rules in F1, but if one of our players cheats us to promotion and £50 or £60 million, that's okay.

                            Interesting.
