Not attacking anyone but having logged on this evening I've been really surprised how negative so many have been today (not Pete, Facto and several others). I was really delighted to see we have signed Reid but the way some are reacting its as if we've brought back Marcus Bean. OK, so the guy clearly has injury issues but if he didn't he'd be ever-present for a well established Premiership side, as he was before his injuries. If we bring someone from a smaller club that, apparently, shows a lack of ambition, and if we get someone from the Premiership they are immediately dismissed as a cast off. Seems hard for the club to win. Terribly sorry, but Cesc Fabrigas wasn't available.
If Reid has played reserve and Carling Cup games he must be reasonably fit. And he has been brought in as cover. He will prob come on as a substitute anyway and gradually be introduced (unless we have another injury/ suspension). If it doesn't work out, no great loss, but at least a problem has been addressed. Last season if we lost either of our main midfield players we wd have just brought in someone like Hogan or The Nose; now we have real quality competing for a place.
Just looking at the midfield now I can't remember us having a better one since the days when Wilkins and Barker were bossing the show. And even then they were both at last knockings. Now we have some really exciting young talent. I'm as bemused as most fans that we didn't address the striker problem earlier - or even now - and there have been some very strange decisions, but there have also been masses of positive developments. Supporting a football club is meant to be fun. I'm not sure why some fans bother really, because clearly they don't seem to enjoy it very much. Their choice of course.
Anyway, I just hope that certain people show a bit more solidarity up in Doncaster on Saturday...
