  • Who was the fan...

    must have been eighties and I think into the nineties who had an incredibly loud voice and you cd hear him half way round the ground. Whenever we had possession - and I'm talking Gary Waddock hardly cantering over the half way line - and he would shout from the Upper Loft "shoooot", and everyone in the ground wd laugh, 'cause I think he was serious. My money is on it being Dexter.

            As I say, it became more collective as time went on.

            I can't remember if Bob Hazell scored a screamer or came close, but know it was shouted to him

              I'm sure he even shouted it once when Ernie Howe was in an advanced position. The bar lady at the Smuts was probably in more danger than the goalie.

              So what happened to the fan - is he still with us? Clearly lost his voice either way.

                i remember round the 80s their use to be a fella about late 40s dark hair bit of an hooter normally wore a black leather jacket always smart and sat with about 4 of his mates in south africa upper by centre but touch to the loft end,he was a character and use to barrack the ref and linesman.one of his quips was having a pop at the lino then piping up " lino.look at me when i`m talking to ya!! " anyone remember him?? must be in his 60s now.
