Rangers keen to keep hold of midfielder

Skysports.com understands Queens Park Rangers have offered Mikele Leigertwood a new deal at Loftus Road.

Leigertwood's current deal expires next summer and the club are keen to keep hold of the industrious midfielder.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a key member of the Rangers squad since his arrival in the summer of 2007 and he has impressed in Jim Magilton's side this term.

A number of Premier League and Championship sides are thought to be monitoring Leigertwood's situation at QPR and are ready to move for him in the summer.

However, QPR are hoping to ward off the interest by securing the former Crystal Palace and Sheffield United ace to a new long-term deal.

Agree. A good utility player that pops up with the odd cracking pile-driver goal!

He can play in those positions, but imo is best at rb. He doesn't pass the ball well enough to really be a cm, and I think the last time he played at ch, QPR lost 4-2 against Colchester.

I'm not a fan although he can pull it off the odd occasions, squad player at best and we should be looking to better.

Most under-rated player at QPR (which is saying something). FACT, as seems the fashion to post after an entirely personal opinion on this message board.

Hopefully something can be done before January.

On his current form, I'd more worried about Mahon who I believe his contract ends next summer.

And didn't he say "I stand to be corrected" as he tried on his callipers?
