end of the day, williams was with us in Div 1 and hasn't imporved that much.
Pete, he has already got a goal and 5 assists. Why??? Because he gets forward more. He has a far better cross. He has a lot more pace. He's better than Borrowdale.

For a start he is too slow and doesn't tackle enough. At the moment he is weak link with RB being next.

        - too slow and cant jump to head a ball to save his life.
+ Good at short passes, has a good shot on him.

So do you play a defender who's main attributes is passing and shooting.
        They seek him here.................

Pete, whilst you are in a far better position than me to comment on Borrowdale as you have been to far more games than me, and i do respect your opinion, believe it or not, in my opinion, and i am allowed one, i think Borrowdale is average at best. In the games i have seen him he has not impressed me at all. He doesnt win headers, doesnt stop crosses coming in, doesnt read the game too well and only gets in the side because we have no other left back. Until now.

He will never set the league alight with his current form and I can honestly say that in every game I have watched him he has been ok though I accept that a team with genuine aspirations to be promoted need better then ok players.

If we can find a better player then Buzz then I would of course replace him and the team needs to be constantly strenghened and there is no room for sentiment if we are serious about going up but I still maintain that Borrowdale has not had a shocker once this season and that was the question asked.
Fair enough mate, but the part I dissagreed with was the GP part. There are plenty of pro-gianni folk on here who'd happily replace Borrowdale.

                Jeez, where would you start:

                1. When he joined us he was out on loan from a CCC club to a League One club

                2. When he came to us and wasn't wanted by Sousa, the only clubs interested in taking him on loan were League One clubs

                3. When he came back to us pre season, the club were desperately looking around for left backs to come in, including the likes of Vignal and van Arnholt, and only pulled out of signing the latter when they thought someone better was coming in.

                4. He has no pace

                5. He is completely lightweight as a defender, and poor at preventing crosses from the opposition

                6. He offers nothing coming forward, his involvement is generally to play a forward pass and stand and admire. He almost never gets beyond his left wing counterpart.

I could go on about how poor he is in the air and how suspect he is positonally too, but the bottom line is that I believe he is well aware of his limitations and doesn't push himself to improve his contribution to the team. That's what makes him League One at best.

And not one mention of you know who.

Edit: Oh yeah, and finally from Jim:

Bringing in Williams was a "no brainer"

Both of our fullbacks are very poor at preventing crosses coming over.

Someone, who is not relying on posters or hearsay for an opinion, could you please tell me, because I would really like to know.
Who said he'd done anything wrong?

Arent we just improving the squad so we dont have a right footed right back playing left back and a midfielder playing at right back?

Having pace is simply a pre-requisite to play at full back in the modern game. End of.

Who says he going straight in the team as far as i know we only had 1 left bk and magilton has said gary borrowdale has been good,we need cover for every position so it makes sense, either way if williams gets in the team he will have to play well cos borrowdale has shown us hes capable.Another thing we're never gonna get an ashley cole,yh your right borrowdale mite has an weakness but going by reports spurr is a bit suspect at the back and people are raving about him

glad to see that you watch Peterborough enough to know that Borrowdale is better than Williams!

you ask, nay DEMAND that people only reply and discuss things that they saw themselves. Well i saw Williams play for Peterborough against us, and he's streets better than Borrowdale...

Didn't rate spurr at our place last season.

The simple fact is he is nowhere near good enough for a team with promotion aspirations. Regardless of who signed him.
