Can Someone Please Tell Me What Borrowdale Has Done Wrong?

I normally agree with pretty much everything that you say Pete - but sorry I completely disagree with your viewpoint on Borrowdale.

It's got nothing to do with GP (alledgedly) pulling the strings in the deal, to be honest I think GP has got more than his fair share of transfer options RIGHT. I don't know for a fact, but I would say that he had played a significant role in bringing people like Connolly/Buzsaky etc to the club, so nothing personal to him. As it happens, I like GP.

But on the point of Borrowdale, over the last few weeks (admittedly we have been in good form), but it has become clear that the opposition have targeted him as our weakness. The Palace game was a great example of this, every single attack they had came down our left hand side... and I think near on all of the fans could see it.

My opinion isn't based on hearsay or resports from games. Like you, I have been to every league game this season, and I'm sad to say that he just isn't up to it. Ironically enough, I actually think Borrowdale IS actually a good footballer. His control is excellent, his distribution is also very very good. When he is in possession, he looks very comfortable on the ball - so there is a decent player rooted somewhere in him... but he just cannot defend.

I think Williams will walk straight into the side, and stay there.

Williams is not great defensivley going by what I have read. A threat going forward and will overlap, but cant defend.

But its all by what ive read, cannot judge him from years ago or what we read, will have to wait a few games to a fair assesment,

Thats what I have read too. I personally don't think he will be better defensivley but lets wait and see.

I don't think he's done anything wrong, like Ramage he has his limitations but hasn't let us down. I keep mreading that the fast/better wingers in this division will destroy him - well I've not missed a game yet and whilst he has made the odd rick (like everyone) no one player has destroyed him.

I don't think it has much to do with what he has done wrong. The simple fact is we do not have any other first team player that can naturally play at left full back. GB is (was) the only left footed full back in the squad. Now we have two of them and he has competition for his place - which we have in every other position.
Let's be honest, the option on Saturday was to play Ramage at left back - that's the right full back who lost his position to a midfielder.
That's not an ideal solution at a club pushing for promotion.

99% of poster are perfectly happy with the squad being strengthened. Pete is devastated for poor Gary, for reasons known to himself, modfather and F Block Titosi are planning to kidnap and subsequently execute Tommy Williams for crimes against passing, and Stedders and his dad think Borrowdale would make an excellent semi pro footballer, which I think most of us could agree on too.

Talking of GP was in response to an earlier post that said people wont like Borrowdale because GP was involved in the deal. But I just don't rate him.

On a side issue, fans talk constantly about Borrowdale, I'm just making the point, that in my view both Hall and Stewart this season have been bigger liabilities at the back, you only have to look at the goals conceded to confirm that asssumption.

seriously tho what is the point ,whether williams is better or the same standard it now means we have competition for the left back slot...which means whoever plays HAS to keep on their toes.

Believe it or not, I get behind all the players on matchday, whether I think they are good enough or not. Message boards are the place where opinions on players abilities can and should be expressed without having any impact on the player, particularly when those opinions aren't positive.

However, using message boards to try to orchestrate hate campaigns against managers, players, sporting directors, owners or whoever really is despicable, and you as owner of this particular message board either put a stop to it and the individuals concerned, or by doing nothing, you actually support it.

Please accept my sincerest apologies, it wasn't my intention to hurt your feelings. You and your dad being semi pro footballers are clearly higher forms of football life and I bow to your superior knowledge on all matters football. Borrowdale is clearly the finest example of a left back in the entire CCC and Sousa and ALL the other managers in the CCC that could have taken him on loan from us last season have no idea.
