  • Lucas Licht or Russell Martin?

these are the two full back names that have been mentioned so far - which would you prefer? 28 year old argentine with la liga experience, could struggle to acclimatize to the championship at first but might also be premiership quality if he settles - or 23 year old versatile englishman rising up the leagues who'll fit in straight away but might not make the grade further down the line. obviously either could end up pony or international class at the end of the day but what's your gut feeling?

ooh, it's almost a new qpr vs old qpr question.

and obviously you'll also say "both " but given legs is vice captain and has been spoken of in glowing terms by jim i don't think he'll be shifted anytime soon. so let's be realistic!

btw licht is a pure left back, and martin supposedly can play all across the back and in midfield, although right back is said to be his favoured position.

Sorry to upset you but I am going to say both. We need a left back and a right back - so it has to be both. Legs, is nothing more than decent cover at full back - good going forward but naive and positionally inept whilst defending. Add to that the fact he isn't so keen in the position and you have all the information you need to know we need a right back. What info do you need to support the fact we need a left back - Borrowdale gets laid low and the cover for left back is Ramage, who has lost his place at right back to Legs??

We need both - so both - simples

the left back wd be my priority, purely because of the position, don't know enough about the player to make a judgement on him. Legs wasn't good at Sheffield but has been extremely good whenever he has played right back previously. Think some players - like Legs - seem to get slated for one bad game while others seem to be able to have a succession of poor games - eg stewart, even buz been quiet of late - and no one says anything.

as i say realistically speaking the management are highly unlikely to be seeing leigertwood as an issue right now. i'm not sure i do either tbh.

personally i would say both as well but only because martin seems like he could be a good one for the future at £250k. but i don't know if there's a first team place for him here just yet and i doubt he'd leave posh (where he is captain i think) just to make up the numbers, whatever the table says.

I'm not slating Legs - he had a tough time on Saturday but then Johnson was very lively - I don't however think Legs has been as good as suggested as a defensive full back. Good going forward yes but he gets caught out of position - it happened a few times against Palace too - and only because he has a bit of pace did he not get burnt.

He is good as cover and (like all of them) gets my support when playing but he is not a natural full back so I would prefer to see that "problem" resolved.

Licht is a left back, Martin can play anywhere along the back but IS a natural right back

Both would be great, but lets see how Williams does
                  Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                  And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Even though Williams has come in I hope we are still looking because we can still always improve on both Borrowdale and Williams.

i wonder if there was a crossed line somewhere, the mirror heard we were in for a peterborough full back and thought it must be russell, turned out to be williams.
