Considering if we don't, some players will go back to respective clubs and interest from the premiership will come for the players out of contract 2011. Have we done enough with the players long-term to maintain a challenge, next season?

this is the dilemma - big pressure as well as hope for this season. this is why its frustrating the management didn't really go for it this year in buying the proper strike force, vaguely competent left back etc before the season started rather than waiting till Jan - then we wd have been in with a chance of the automatics rather than hoping for the lottery of the play offs.

Good question, although we do have another attempt next year, I would say that this year we have had the best opportunity so far as you can't count last year.
I said at the start of the season that I believe the board are leaving it this year and just seeing how we do before they committ any more funds, and also it depends on what happens come January if we do invest big time in more players to make a genuine push.
Looking at the evidence on the pitch we have only taken 1pt from 6pts (At home) so it does suggest that we're not quite there yet as top teams win their home matches.

the thing about us is we are an uneven team - we have maybe half a dozen players who pretty well any club in this division and even a few premier league clubs wd love, but we also have a few players who aren't nearly good enough - not just borrowdale/ Ramage. Against Palace we were looking for Vine and Agyman to win us the game, when neither wd earn a starting place up front with virtually any other championship club based on their scoring record.

this time last year we was in same place.
can be said we had 3/4 managers last season but i felt last season with teams in the league and whatnot was our best chance. this year has alot more quality in the league so will be hard to competeSoldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

January should be the first time since the takeover where the owners are tempted to seriously spend. This really is the best chance to go up. We've shown we can stand alongside the likes of Cardiff and Newcastle.
Investment in a minimum of 5 players (sub GK, LB, CM, ST x2) and we will be there or thereabouts.
