Hull City thought that when they went up now they are 23 million in debt, if they go down could be end the for them, do you want to risk that with QPR ?

I think we need to improve on Plan A but create us a Plan B.

Macheda or Wellbeck would definitely improve Plan A and I'd happily take either on loan until the end of the season but we need to sign a striker on a permanent deal as well. Vine is improving but if Taraabt was to leave Wellbeck or Macheda would be a very good (if not better) replacement. A striker like Best, Hooper or even Fryatt would be an improvement on Agyemang and give us more options from the bench. The argument of course would be that why would any of them want to sign and not be guaranteed first team football and the answer to that is because they would all have a better chance of playing Premiership football with us than playing with their current clubs.

Traore has slipped behind Gibbs at Arsenal and although after his year at Portsmouth he'll think of himself as a Premiership defender he doesn't look like he'll get any game time this season. A loan with a view to a permanent deal (if promoted) would improve the back four no end. Borrowdale is steadily improving and many would think it would be very harsh to drop him but the same was said about Ramage. Both Ramage and Borrowdale are good Championship defenders but Leigertwood has shown us that we can be better than just good. Traore would be an improvement going forward and at the back and all those who like Borrowdale would quickly see an improvement if replaced.

As for back up keeper I would try to sign Heaton on a permanent deal. He must be aware after the recent couple of mistakes by Cerny that he has a shot of taking the number 1 shirt and it could be his for many years to come.

In 2008, we all waited to see if we were going to sign Buzsaky, Vine and Mancienne on permanent deals. Two of the three happened. This January will be no different. Can we sign Watson, Taraabt, Simpson and Heaton. I would be delighted if we signed any of them permanently, two would be brilliant, three would be a coup for the club and four well now I'm just dreaming.

In order of importance I would sign the following:
            Simpson
            Traore
            Wellbeck
            Watson
            Taraabt
            Best
            Heaton

Do I believe we will sign 7 players in January on permanent deals? Nope, would I be happy for us to sign 4 of them? Definitely.

Sir Pie I know your targetting players that the club feel are needed. Sounds like we are after 2 strikers and a left back. All the players you have mentioned play in this position but in your own personal opinion do you feel that Hall and Stewart are good enough? If we could off load 1 of these then we should aim for a decent partner for Gorkks. Connolly is coming back which is great news but I don't think Hall or stewart are good enough to step in. Also if we signed 4 of them in Heaton, Simpson, Tarrabt and Watson that would be the same as what we have got now which isn't enough?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I think we have a squad which is half upper Championship quality and half our lower Championship. Players like Routledge, Buzsaky, Taraabt, Watson and Simpson are all IMO upper Championship players or players that you would expect to play for a top 6 side. Some will say that they are better than that but they have yet to prove that. Players like Ramage, Borrowdale, Stewart, Hall, Agyemang, Alberti etc are lower championship quality. One or two in the team is okay and to be expected but half dozen in the match day squad and then you have problems.

I've argued before that until we have the best 23 man players in the world in our squad we can always improve it. United, Chelsea, Liverpool etc improve their squads year after year because until they are totally unbeatable there is always room for improvement. We are no different. Results against Swansea, Leicester and Palace have shown that we need strength in depth and more quality on the pitch.

With Gael Clichy fracturing his back and being out for a couple of months at least - We can forget Traore.
He's back up for Kieran Gibbs for the time being.

But Clichy will be back before January meaning that Traore would be relegated to 3rd choice again when the transfer window opens.

He'd be my choice for LB too.... but until Arsenal get knocked out of a competition or two, I can't see AW letting players go.

Maybe Liverpool have a spare left back? Seeing as they're out of the Carling Cup and soon, Europe.

Irwin, Kelly and Darby are all coming through the ranks but I would imagine Rafa won't be letting anyone go at the moment. I have a feeling that he'll want to keep all of his squad together. Don't know why but when managers are close to getting the sack they think by holding on to their players it creates unity and therefore there is no risk of a player saying that the squad is unhappy.

Tom Cruise is another left back at Arsenal who is highly regarded but he has no League first team experience.

liked the look of Jack Cork for leicester last week. He was a proper centre half and could play football too.
