What made it look worse last night was that we could see he had acres of space and time, whereas he probably didn't know if a nyone was closing behind him or not.
Saying that you shouldn't miss. To be honest, with his pace i was very surprised he didn't just knock it to the side of the keeper and tap it in an empty net.

I've just put my tine hat on - but for me Routeledge is only about speed - obviously very quick and he has quick feet too - but his first touch is awful and he aint a goal poacher. The thing he lacks more than anything else is a football brain to go with his lighning pace. Ducks for cover.#standuptocancer

There have been psychological tests done on the whole one on one process and even open goal misses. They have a theory where if there isn't a defender on you or a goalkeeper available the mind of a footballer turns to mush more or less because it is in totally unfamiliar territory.
