  • Faurlin - how good is he?

I am not against Faurlin, i know he is young - and can do some great things - but is he as good as people are making him out to be? Almost every fan on here seems to be praising him as "excellent" - but i personally think hes played quite well, but nothing special? Maybe i am the minority - i just persoanlly havent seen anything spectacular - hes done a good job, especially at a young age and in a new country - but im not sure hes been excellent?

Personally, i beleive if a player is "excellent" - we would miss them hugely if they were injured. e.g Buzz, or routledge, maybe taraabt. If we had a fit midfield, would we really miss faurlin as much as them?

Dont get me wrong - not a criticism - i think hes a good player, and great potential, in difficult circumstances - i just havent personally seen "excellence" - just solid performances.

By way of analogy, you have just classed Gavin Mahon as excellent - as we missed him hugely on Friday.

However, the reality is players like Faulin and Mahon get missed because without them the team doesn't work - with Mahon it's simple ball retaining passes, with Faulin it's incisive passes and a great reading of the game. Faulin missed Mahon's simplicity on Friday and without it we lost the benefit of both players, particularly as Legs doesn't offer the same dimension as a central holding midfielder.

I'll reserve judgement, but I think he's a very able lad. Everyone was poor on Friday and we were not a unit. There were players who were far worse against Leicester than him.

he wont score many but he will be at the base of alot of good things we create.

against preston he just never gave the ball away and his ability to pick a pass cut teams up.

he has the ability to tackle and compete which is quite rare from foriegn imports we normally get.

he would play better on a bigger pitch but i feel we have alot of things to come from him.. he also takes a very good freekick.

he has now experienced pressure from other teams and i feel will learn from it.. he isnt the type to playact he gets on with his job and does it well.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
        Lovejoy: "No?!"

I think when he's on his game he makes us tick, he starts moves with a good pass or just a simple one. Ball rentention is his best asset.....though I admit he was the opposite on Friday!

Let's wait till he's played at least half a season before we start to judge him, he's had some good and a few bad like most players do. I'll put my money on him having more good games than bad games by the end of the season tho

Bit of a silly question really but I'll give u an answer. He is a quality prospect. He had a bad game the other night and it all turned after we scored as he was quality up to that point again. Seen enough of him now and one bad game doesnt mean he is any different. Everyone has off games and after we went 1-0 on Friday everyone and I meant the whole team just changed!

Echoe the thoughts of others, best passer of a ball I have seen at Rangers in a fair few years and lets face it who was up for it on Friday, every player will have bad games. To me he is an exceptional talent, who keeps his head and didn't go missing, something he could easily have done.

On Friday I thought that he and Legs tried to push the game too hard, instead of playing simple balls and keeping possession they tried to make difficult passes and Leicester intercepted the majority of them and countered at speed. If Mahon had been playing I think we would have kept it simple, which had worked for us in the last few matches. Faurlin is very gifted but still young and needed an older /wiser head next to him and Legs did not provide that.

As good as he was against derby he was bad against leicester but like has been said everyone was bad the other night let's see how he bounces back tomorrow it will suit him to be along side watson.

I dont go to half as many games as i used to due to family and work but the games i have been to i have been disapointed with Faullin. To hear people on here say 'the best passer of the ball ive seen at QPR in a long time' is a hell of a statement as in the games ive been to and Leicested on friday he was anything but. I thought he looked very good against Derby and was really looking forward to seeing him vs Leicester but he must of given the ball away 20 times. But i respect a lot of people's opinion s on here, otherwise i wouldnt visit the site, so for there to be such enthusiasm towards the lad im optimistic he will turn out to be a key player for us.

Very good passer of the ball, even when under pressure. He also judges the flight of the ball very well and chests it when others would just head it. This means he then distributes to a blue and white shirt rather than giving possession away.
