  • Ipswich Fan - Magilton

Hi All, i'm an ipswich fan and just wanted to ask everyones thoughts on Magilton, are you all happy with his selections etc, I know where you are in the league which is fantastic and I hope you can gain promotion, but just wandered if you feel this becasue of the players or the new management?
just scratching my head into why Magilton couldn't produce this with us.

the signings have been influential but past seasons we have had similar signings like sahar, parejo, ledesma who have all been built up to be future superstars and they just didnt fit into our style of play. now we have found a style of play which fits every single player in our midfield and attack and they all seem to be out there to play together and to play like its for fun. so partly gianni paladini's work , but majority is the way the team respect the management and go out there to win and enjoy it

Very happy with his selections now, although they appeared a bit dodgy to start with. But that was probably because it was a new style of play and takes time to get to grips with.
In my opinion it is simply a combination of some of the best players in the division and good management.

Whilst you are here, what are your thoughts on Mr Keane ?

My honest opinion is that we are actually playing really well, we just cant seem to concentrate when we need to, personally I think we can have a bright future with Keane but there are many fans that don't want to give him the chance, to me yes we haven't won but i look realisticly at the situation and look at it another way, we're playing well, unbeaten in 3, only lost 2 in 7 which both should have been draws at least to, so for me one win will give us the boost to push on.

Not trying to put Ipswich down, but I think that the quality of players that we have are better equiped to play Magic's attacking , possesion style of football than those he had at Ipswich. I was not over the moon when he was appointed but I ,like many others, am happily eating large portions of humble pie.

My honest opinion on that is the squad of players Jim has now at Rangers is infinitely better than those he had at Ipswich - in terms of skill, pace and ability. Your side last year was decent enough but nowhere near as good as what we have now.
Jim and John Gorman have Rangers playing some top quality passing football, but that wouldn't be possible without the pace and skill of our wingers, central midfielders and the young Arsenal loanee up front.

We love him and no you can't have him back!

Perhaps Magilton did get the best out of the Ipswich players and now under Keane you are seeing the real standard of your squad.

              Just a thought....................

For QPR its basically the same team as last season with the introduction of Simpson & Faurlin. Magilton must take high praise for the start so far, the football has been incredible and all the players are working for him.

We are loving it, but is it a flash in the pan or is this the standard we will continue to perform against? only time will answer that question.

Where did you see Magilton faults?

previous managers we had we're a little too light on our players who can be said have huge ego's.

magilton has come in and basically laid the law down to them and now has found the formula to make our 4 main players play together - buz taarabt routledge and simpson.

funny because i wanted keane as our manager but i didnt not want magilton.

                hows delaney going?

So can i ask with regards to the comments regarding you having the better sqaud - to that i agree we didn't have a bad squad but it wasn't great - would you be happy to agree that Magilton hasn't really had to go into the transfer market as much as he did here, and could that possibly worry you for the future?

Its only Magiltons second managers job so maybe he has learnt from the experiences at Ipswich...whatever the reason we are well pleased at the minute.

Delaney has been a poor signing but some of our youngsters have said that having him within the squad has been good for their tuiation which for me is nice to know.
So i see Delaney more as a coach than a player lol.
In regards to Magiltons faults - i loved Magilton, as a player and Manager, but his transfers left a lot to be disired, he played exciting attractive football which he learnt as a player here which i'm happy you guys have inherited, I feel he could be a great manager if his transfers can be controlled

Jim doesnt really do the transfers, usually our sporting director is in control.

Does not worry me at all..... he has the core of a great squad.... any new players will need to better the current team.

At Ipswich he was rebuilding, so this is much more tricky trying to find the player and then getting them in, especially when the club is Ipswich. London is always a good selling point.

there is one thing here that magilton wont have 100% decision on is transfers.. he will have input from paladini and they work together to obtain targets.

so far tho his record is good:

                            simpson - very good
                            faurlin - top notch
                            watson - another gem..

so far we havent had any real problems except maybe pellicori

Our system is different with Paladini involved in sighnings, the only 'signing' has been Faurlin from Argentina and Gorman spotted him when he was with you. The lad is quality and will get even better. So in answer no not a major concern.
