  • mahon and faulrin against derby

    obviously ball retention was superb...

however when derby did attack did anybody notice they RARELY challenged or dived in.

might be me but i noticed it a few times mahon especially, he normally goes in with a challenge or two but we was content with letting them have the ball belong as our cm's was goal side.

i remember months ago and especially last season our CM's like legs and mahon would be all over the shop putting pressure on the ball.. saw none of that on saturday and was amazed.

this is not a criticism just an observation.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
    Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

I think they have both learnt to stay on their feet. So often we find someone has dived in and the man has gone before our player can get off the ground.

Claridge, described Mahon as a bulldog during the commentary.

quite harsh as he is hardly an oil painting himself
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

WiKipedia says that Steve Claridge has had 28 clubs FFS, 28.

And in a rare moment of accuracy, Wikipedia is right for once!

When watson is back he comes in for Mahon, harsh, because Mahon has been excellent but for me Watson has to be a automatic starter, not only because he is awesome, but also because if we want him to sign come Jan a starting place is a must...

Faurlin is looking fantastic, and with youth on his side he has to stay in the team imo.
Cant believe it, ive been PWOPER MUGGED ORF...

To be fair to them, they did their job.

Although I think Watson is a better player than Mahon and he will soon replace him, I quite like the fact that they didn't make the reckless challenges that has seen both Watson and Rowlands pick up 2 yellows = a red in games.

You don't and shouldn't be diving in at any point other than last-ditch in today's game.

Mahon is an incredibly intelligent player, and doens't get the credit he deserves. I have been impressed with Faurlin since Chelsea.

I think Watson has a bit to prove to get back in the team and keep his place, to be honest. I don't think him and Faurlin can play together, both doing the same things and both extremely similar.... we'll see.

Oh and Steve Claridge when he said Gorkss is one of those players who just heads it away, knows his limitations. What a complete tw@t. Is there a better passer of the ball in any Championship defence?

To be fair - I don't think we are going to see that type of play from Faurlin. He is someone that makes himself available and doesn't give the ball away. He is like Fabragas not Hargreaves.

We just need to make sure the team has the right balance.
