I wrote a post after the Peterborough game a while back expressing exactly where I stood as a QPR fan - http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/f...ad.php?t=29870
I was miserable but determined to keep up the positivity. It was a turning point for me, and it seems for the club as well. We haven’t looked back since.
The last six weeks have seen QPR produce the best form I have seen in my lifetime (I wasn’t around in the 70s). Stunning football, goals a plenty. This side has it all. The key has been a settled side and a formation that gets the best out of everyone.
During the second half of the 07/08 season we were one of the best sides in the league under Di Canio, but had left it too late to mount a serious push for promotion. Back then, Buzsaky and Vine were pulling the strings – presently you can add Taarabt, Faurlin and Routledge. Enormous quality at our disposal that no-one else in this league can match.
We would already be clear at the top had we not struck woodwork so often earlier in the season. We weren’t playing great, but you could tell the quality was there. Only Routledge has produced his best from since the start of the season, but now everyone is on top of their games. The potential is frightening.
People are asking can we go up this season. Too damn right. In fact, I’d be disappointed if we don’t hit the 100 points/goal mark. Yes, I am that confident. 23 points from 13 games equals 81 over the season already, a ratio that will only improve. We will be top very soon and there we will stay. I even put £200 on us at 14/1 last week and I never bet.
This is our 11th season at this level since relegation from the Prem in 1996. We have never come close to automatic promotion. We have flirted with the play-offs a couple of occasions but they ultimately proved beyond us. Our time has now come. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.
