Agreed. Against Reading was watching him in the warm up and i don't think he actually hit the target when they were doing the shooting drills. Then at half time kickabout some of his passes were embarrassingly wayward. And that's without any pressure!!

People just don't get. Beckford is not a team player and our style of play would not suit him, he would be a costly liability.

There is one player I would like us to have a punt on.

His name is Simpson and his strike rate this season has been has been 6 goals in 9 games.

          look

look in the days of the great brian bedford you only needed one striker brian was so hard he would play even with stitches in his head you only needed one striker but there never will be another bedford
now days you need four strikers trying to take one of the two places available that is just modern football the current players just arent as tough as the old guys

In those days we never had a lone striker.

You forget Bernard [Evans] 18 goals - Jim [Towers] 15 goals - John [McClelland] 11 goals - Mark [Lazurus] 12 goals - Johnny [Collins] 6 goals - and even dear old Peter [Angell] got 6 - by the way BB 34 goals.

            Season was 1961-62

scarlet pimple well done for getting those four goals at derby i knew you wouldnt let us down now its going to be big ade whose going to be the featured mascot against leicester will he be able to do it i ask myself i hope so

and brian bedford i started going to games in 59-60 so do remember the great days but in reality there really was only one striker that was the great bedford who i once met whilst HE working for qpr in around 1982 in the club shop

                  Eastwood - 49 in 111 Southend 04-07

                  3 in 31 Wolves 07-08

                  Sharp - 53 in 82 S****horpe 05-07 ( admittedly good,but nothing in the last 2 seasons).

                  i.e 8 in 51 Sheff Utd 07-08

Beckford - 34 in 34 for Leeds last season alone and 8 this season.

I still think Beckford would do a better job with the squad we have at the moment, but I do take the point about who he would replace in a winning team.RFE's point about strength in depth and potential injury to Simpson is a valid one however, and of course there's no guarantee we would get Simpson on a permanent deal next season anyway. Also leaving it till the end of the season to try and get someone like Beckford on a freebie is risky with a lot of teams, regardless of his alledged attitude, probably being prepared to take a punt.

I did go to Rangers in those days but i could only go to evening matches, as i played footie on saturdays for the Harrow boys club, who wore QPR shirts given by the club.

I remember Ray Drinkwater in goal but thats about all, also went to one or two games at the white city, think Bedford must have been sold by then as i remember Frank Large played for us.

I packed up playing sat footie in 65, started going to LR when we bought Rodney, never looked back since then.

So that must make u around 105?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

beckford is not by a long stretch worth any where near the money that leeds want for him and Jay Simpson has a lot more quality about him than beckford, beckford has found his level where he is in div1 would not score half as many in the championship and not good enough for the prem if ever we get their
