In general I have been pleased with performances of our youngsters since the New Year. One exception has been Darnell's defensive lapses. Yesterday they showed up again and in my opinion were the main cause of the two goals we conceded. Apart from this he had a good game, creating a goal and getting down the wing. However his defensive positioning continues to be exposed and he frequently allows his 'wide' playing attacker (whether winger or full back) too much space in the penalty box. I was hoping that with experience this would be sorted out but no sure. What do others think?

I have no confidence with Darnel, his defending is poorUnder Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Good player. All young defenders have their mishaps, and perhaps Darnell has developed a little slower than some other players do. He hasn't had an easy path though. Chucked into first team football in the top flight way too early. Then had to get his head around not being in the first team picture, going out on loan to League 1, etc.
Personally I think he'll go on to have a great career for us. As a few have pointed out as well, I could see him transitioning to central defense at some stage too.
