After today's obliteration, here are three very harsh truths:
(1) Led by Onouha, our defense backs up every time someone has the ball in our box -- like instead of going after the opponent and stopping them, they set up for a block that often doesn't happen as the ball hits the back of our net; opponents with the ball not only breathe in our box, but take up residence there
(2) The wingback system hasn't worked, and will not work this season with the players on this squad -- Pawel has lost his drive for the goal (always cutting back and back passing), and Bidwell is a LB not a wingback (no speed, and forget scoring a goal, maybe ever) -- Go to a 4-4-2
(3) If we are waiting for our young bright lights to excel, we will wait a while longer cause there are no coaches on this team demonstrating they can develop talent much less manage it.
Leading to this painful reality: Ollie will stubbornly not change much of anything, the wingback system will continue in utter mediocrity, and we will once again barely survive relegation with Ollie promising all sorts of crap about next season he is not capable of delivering.
My take: go to 4-4-2 now, secure against relegation, then play the young lights like Chair and Eze and Kakay and Furlong knowing (given our financial peril) we will likely have much the same team to start next season.
