Queens Park Rangers fielded trialists from English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Stoke City in their under-23s fixture at Cardiff City on Monday afternoon.
The Hoops’ official website has reported that QPR fell to a 3-2 defeat in South Wales with Jay Emmanuel-Thomas netting a brace for Paul Hall’s men.
The R’s are currently taking a look at Arsenal winger Aaron Eyoma and Stoke City defender Andrew Cherdieu and both players started the match against The Bluebirds.
The Gunners wideman Eyoma is 20 years old and is said to have pace which will terrify opposition defenders. The player spent the second half of last season on loan at Dutch club FC Volendam while he has featured for Arsenal at under-23 level. The youngster’s future at the Emirates Stadium is unclear and he could be available for transfer or loan in the summer. Eyoma played the full 90 minutes for QPR’s development side at Cardiff City.
Fellow trialist Cherdieu was substituted in the 62nd minute of the match. The 18-year-old Frenchman can be used in a variety of defensive roles and is rated highly by parent club Stoke City. The defender may be most likely to be available for loan in the future with The Potters thought to be keen to oversee Cherdieu’s development.
QPR have another under-23s fixture on Friday when they take on Birmingham City at Wast Hills and both players could again feature.
