Spoke to him at the training ground a few weeks ago. Has a very young family, and only sees them once a week on a Sunday after a game. Makes absolute sense if he’s been given the opportunity close to home.
Also was at pains to stress that he wasn’t a specific defence coach. Him Holloway and bircham all coaches all aspects of play. And from what I saw he was correct
Nass, I think you might find that a Liverpool pedigree has a bit to do with him knowing how to play. He only ended up at CB because we were short at the back. Agree totally that he is a better player but that could also be down to not being injured and actually getting games.
Said it another post a few weeks back Alan, Robinson played centre half throughout his youth career before being switched to left back because he was considered too small to play centre half at the highest level. There was an interesting article on Sky a month or so back where Jack even says he's always preferred playing central defence.
