Just having a look at squad we had in our first season back in the championship. Austin was a quality player and pretty much irreplaceable at our current level. But if you look at the other players, I’d say overrall current squad is at worst equal to that or in my view slightly better. For me the club have very successfully spun the party line that we are rebuilding and money is tight and not going down is a success. But we have spent money on players and we have improved the squad. We haven’t (yet) had to sell players of real value like Smithies. We are having to balance the books but we’re not bankrupt.
Squad equal or better......now we’re 16th and we finished 12th in 2015/2016. 12th was seen as a failure then and we’d be delighted now.
