So Ollie's biggest critic (apart from me) and our stats man both ignore the one striker we have with a really decent mpg ratio at this level...

Playing a big man up top does not mean long ball if you set up properly. It does mean getting to the byeline nice and deep, but you need to play football to get there. What you don't want are incompetent wing backs predictably cutting inside because they aren't proper wingers.

Are you talking about Matt Smith? If you are, he's so much better of the bench. I think I've gone over this before but just in case:

Starting: Matt Smith - Goal every 240.5 mins (2.67 games)
Sylla - Goal every 241.6 mins (2.69 games)
Washington - Goal every 384.8 mins (4.28 games)

Off the bench: Matt Smith - Goal every 135 mins
Sylla - Goal every 190 mins
Washington - Goal every 223 mins

Sylla and Smith both have pretty much the same mpg when starting, but Smith is so much better off the bench that it would make no sense to start him and bring Sylla on when we could do it the other way around and get more goals.

Only reason I've not started Smith is because of how much more of an impact he makes off the bench.
