Went to the game yesterday. Thought we played very well overall, although Burton were poor. First half was fairly even and scrappy, but felt in the second we really took control of the match and could have won by three or four. Washington took his goal well and caused them problems throughout. Oteh was lively, although ball control and finishing need a bit of work (missed a sitter in the first minute). Nevertheless, great to see him get on the scoresheet and sure his confidence will improve. Midfield trio of Freeman, Scowen and Luongo really managed to impose themselves on the match and controlled the flow of play. Also impressed by Onuoha who put in a generally solid display. Burton didn't trouble us much; they seemed to hoof the ball forward at every opportunity, which we dealt with comfortably. Only criticism would be the way we lost concentration after scoring the first - a bit of a soft goal to give away.
Hoping we can build on this victory and don't fall into the usual Holloway trap of winning a couple of matches and then going on a six-game losing streak. Interestingly, I spoke to one of the Burton coaches after the match who said Ollie got the tactics "spot on" and admitted they struggled against his system. Perhaps more tactically astute than we think (although not getting too carried away!)
